Got weighed at the dr's office. Good & Bad

At my Dr's appointment I got weighed and am happy to say that I lost the weight that I gained in the past few years. I did not gain that much and most people probably couldn't tell, but I felt it and didn't like the lifestyle of sitting in front of the tv right when I got home from work. So the nurse says that I've lost 4 pounds since I was last in - 4 months ago. She said she was concerned because I do not need to lose weight. I was so annoyed by her comment. I have my wedding in 7 months and damn it I want to look my best! I love to eat and I have tried really hard to stop eating when I am full. I think alot of people can relate to eating too much. Anyway, I guess I just wanted to vent. Too bad my migraines don't go away.

Beth,

This is just a reply to your last comment. I get migraines, and recently went on a relatively new drug called Relpax. It works great for me, where nothing else ever has. If I take it when I first feel the headache starting, it works within a half hour, and I haven't had any side effects (I've been taking it about 3 months now). The only bad thing I've run into is that it interacts with several drugs, in particular, for me, the antiobiotic Biaxin, which sometimes is the only thing that works for me if I get bronchitis. I get migraines much more often than bronchitis though, so overall, I'm happy to have Relpax, to the point that I want to recommend it.

Your nurse tells you not to loose any more weight? How tall are you & what do you weigh? She may be right. Healthcare professionals do know what they are talking about SOMETIMES (sometimes they don't) LOL!

I know you want to look your best but you may already be there!

Just a suggestion.

Just wanted to share my story with you. When I first started working out about two years ago I wasnt looking to loose weight, just hated looking flabby and wanted to be in better shape. Im 5'5" and weighed about 127. I was told the same thing - I didnt need to loose weight. Well I did, without trying to. I now weight 118 lbs. and have for about six months now. At 43- I am in the best shape of my life, I feel great and I look better than I ever have. I watch what I eat, because I rather eat healthier and smarter than I used to. Just listen to your body, if you feel good that should be all that matters.

Wouldn't it be nice when you go to your doctors office that instead of weighing you they meassure your body fat levels instead, which is a much more accurate way to tell how over-under fat someone is. The height weight loss charts really need to go. I'm 6ft tall, and have 9% body fat, i'm lean...yet when my doctor weighed me they told me i was 8lbs over weight! ha!!! and this from a doctor...good thing i fired him then!

You know that's a good point. That's why the BMI is a much more accurate (if still not "perfect") way of determining whether or not someone is overweight. It also has it's faults because it doesn't take into account body fat percentage, but I agree those height and weight charts don't tell the entire story. I have no idea what my body fat percentage is, but I'm sure it's a lot lower than when I started out last summer. I weigh 134.5 and I'm 5'2", yet I'm in size 6!!! It has to be the muscle, which probably means I have quite a bit of it now. The last time I was in this size was in college (over 20 years ago! I'll be 46 a week from today!!), and I weighed between 100 and 110 pounds, but I didn't workout. I ran, but never touched a weight. Go figure!

134.5lbs, 5ft 2", and a size 6, i'd say you have pretty much alot of lean muscle mass, which is great. Size is great, and lean lean lean... well done :)

Thanks, icklemoley! You're good for my ego - LOL!! I wish I had access to one of those facilities where they dunk you in the water, so I knew exactly what my body fat percentage was. I would love to know. I know there are calipers out there that are fairly accurate too. Maybe it's time to invest in a pair?

Anyone know of any good ones that won't cost me the price of one month's utilities?
