Got Rebounder - Now what?!?

We got a huge trampoline for the kids last weekend and I've been having a ball bouncing so I broke down last night and got a rebounder. I have one 20 minute rebounder workout from a 'Carribean Workout' compilation and tried it this morning. It was FUN!

Okay, now what?? I looked at CK Sales and they have no rebounder workouts so I'm wondering, what the heck are you doing on your rebounder? I seem to remember someone saying that they do the floor part of MIC on a rebounder, how do you modify your hi/lo to suit it. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated:) TIA

Urban Rebounding has some workouts on DVD, available through www.collagevideo.com . I like the compilation with the advanced workout.

G-Force is a Fitprime (Ana Benson) workout lead by Tracie Long. It alternates rebounding and weight work, and the rebounder moves are somewhat different from those usually used in UR.

After you get some ideas about moves you can use (or make up your own!), you can use other workouts and adapt them to the rebounder. I have several Leslie Sansone walk workouts that I've only used on the rebounder, changing walks to jogs, side steps to jacks, and modifing and making up other moves.

I've most recently used my rebounder for Cardio Coach workouts, which are guided interval workouts on CD to be used with cardio equipment (www.cardiocoach.com ). I do the runs and sprints on the rebounder, when the "tension" is supposed to be changed, I increase intensity by doing more intense moves like jacks. I do the 'hill climbs" on my Transfirmer, but I've also used the High Step for them.

what's nice about the rebounder is that you can pretty much do whatever you want. Just turn on some music, or watch a TV show and bounce away! It's fun to come up with new moves: try different foot patterns, like "right-right-left" instead of just "right-left-right-left." Throw in some syncopated moves. Move forward and back or side-to-side.

Thanks Kathryn, I knew I could count on you!!!;-) I'll check Collage out and look on CK Sales, they have some FitPrime.

Any other ideas and suggestions are welcome, I'm just glad to have a cool new toy to play with:)

Laurie, have fun with your new toy! :) :) Could I just ask what kind of rebounder you purchased? I've been contemplating on getting one for awhile. Are all rebounders the same?

I know Lora and Nicole use them from the Hardcore check in. Maybe they'll pop in and help?

Hi Dallas, I'm just learning myself:) The one I purchased is from a line called 'Personal Trainer Fitness' it was $40.00 and supposed to have an instructional DVD in it by a lady named 'Rosalie Brown' but it isn't in there so I'll go back to the store tomorrow. I was looking at the differences between the one I purchased and the one used by the instructor in the DVD I have, their's had heavy springs, the one I have has heavy duty textile elastic. I am going to price other models and see what the differences are, I may upgrade.

I'd love to hear what Lora and Nicole are doing with their rebounders:)

Hey Laurie,
Dallas was telling me about you getting a rebounder. I have a urban rebounder, and I LOVE it. I have like 8 urban rebounder workouts, but I really never us them. I like using my rebounder just to jump on and I use it with Cathe dvds. It is GREAT for all that high impact stuff. You know those jumps and jumping rope etc.....

Take care, and have FUN with your new purchase :D

Hi Laurie.

I just thought I'd pop in here w/my 2 cents!:)

I have the urban rebounder and I use it with the Urban rebounding videos. I have compilations 1-4 which gives me roughly 16 work outs to choose from though there are a few I don't use. I also have the G-force workout that has been mentioned but I personally do not care for it. I am not good at creating my own work out so I only use my rebounder w/a video. I have tried using it to modify Cathe's hi/lo but have a difficult time doing so and have given up on that. I can't really use it for things like air jacks, etc. cause I have a ceiling fan to watch out for and not enough space in the room to avoid it. As much as this limits me, I still love it and don't regret the purchase. I think it's a great low/no impact cross-training tool and it's just so much fun! :)

Mostly my son (turned 5 yesterday) bounces on it while I do my Cathe workout. I have to convince him to get off it if I want to use it for a modification.

As I have puzzle mats on carpet on concrete I do all power moves on top of my step. For moves like power scissors I either substitute with front kick..back kick or do power scissors on the rebounder. If I've been doing a lot of high impact (and my knees give me warning sounds) I modify by jogging on the rebounder rather than on my step. That Z pattern jump that Cathe does to work the calves I do on the rebounder while focusing on jumping high.

Thanks so much for your ideas and suggestions everyone. It's going to be fun figuring out how to modify workouts, I think I'll keep it handy for KM blast challenge today and do some of them on it. You just can't help feel lighthearted when you're bouncing.....boing, boing, boing:D

Hey Laurie,

We purchased a trampoline for my kids and I am on it as much as they are. I got a rebounder for christmas and love it. I use it for all the high impact moves on my Cathe DVDs.

My kids and I bounce on our trampoline everyday (when it is not raining:( ). It puts all of us in a great mood.

Keep boinging!!:D :D

I do cardio coach on mine. I really like the high impact part of Kick Punch and Crunch and kick max on it. Plus I set it to the side when doing Imaxes and when it is on the high impact intervals, I hop on it and do them there. Flying straddle jumps are a blast on it.
