Got IntervalMax by accident

Well, my mom picked it as a bonus when she got me the 4 Cathe videos I wanted (PS series and PowerHour -Yay! my first Cathe tapes!!) But I have no step and little experience with stepping. I previewed it and I see all that work with your back to the TV- I think it would be wasted on me at this point.:(

Meanwhile I am on the lookout for a high intensity cardio tape that does not need a step- like Cardio Kicks maybe? Or CTX Kickboxing? Would anyone like to swap?

I would love to get a step and try this tape... and I could always keep it and use it later when I can afford a step, but... what suggestions do you guys have?

Cardio Kicks sounds like just what your looking for. I just did it yesterday and still LOVE that tape. Its definately high intensity and like you said, doesnt require a step. CTX kickboxing is fun too but I cant remember if you need a step for that one, AND its only sold as a six tape set. If I were you, Id save all my pennies and invest in a step. Its sooo worth it, since most of Cathe's tapes are step workouts. Interval Max is very intense. Since youve never done a Cathe workout, maybe try it without the step anyway, I can almost bet you that your heart rate will be "up there"! Good luck! Judy

Thanks Judy!

I am saving up for a step. It is the only way to get the intensity I need without pounding my knees to bits.

Yes my next tape I want is Cardio Kicks. Meanwhile I have Christi's Step Heaven and I know that when I really get the choreo down, I'll be able to get some intensity out of it. I will try what you said and do Imax without a step.

RE: Thanks Judy!

I have Christi's Step Heaven and have never ever been able to do the second part, which has tons of moves with your back to the TV. IMax is a lot, lot easier, and I agree with the recommendation to just do it without a step (until you buy one).

RE: Thanks Judy!

Woops! I meant I have Hi-Lo Heaven. Not Step Heaven!

As a Cathe neophyte I'm a little intimidated. Her videos are consummate. Just did PS Legs & Abs for the first time- my first Cathe video ever- and I am feeling great!

Lynda,I will try that- Imax without a step- tomorrow.

Please keep Imax....it's my personal favorite Cathe tape, and I've been doing it for 2 years (this month!)now. I never get tired of it. Save for your step, and enjoy it! Imagine....it was my second Cathe cardio tape! I was totally new to step. http://plaudersmilies.de/person/znaika.gif (the icon of the "educated crowd!)

Agree with HB!

KEEP IT, Connie!! It is the greatest tape and if you want INTENSE, you got it! I also agree you can start off without a step and I KNOW you'll still get a great workout. Quite a few of the "intervals" are done wthout the step. Let us know how you do. I am choreo-impaired and found this tape fairly easy to catch onto. Have FUN!!!

RE: Agree with HB!

Thank y'all so much!! I will keep IMax!
My eyes are now peeled for a second-hand step in my neigborhood... I see them on e-bay but I think that the shipping cost will bump the price all the way up to retail.

I think I should get the club-type step with extra risers (for inclines) and not the stepper bench, because I do already have a regular weight bench, kept outside to use in the warmer weather. So for stepping and strength videos, I think that a regular club (41 or 42" long) step is the way to go. Any money-saving tips out there?

Any tips on step shopping appreciated.

RE: Agree with HB!

Hey Connie, glad you decided to keep it. In your honor I just may do Interval Max today! I myself and choreographically impaired and when I first started doing Cathe tapes, I would get so frustrated, but Ive gotten much better (still have a tough time with Rythmic Step and Step Works) I remember being in the gym watching all the "skinny girls" going into the aerobics class while I was on the treadmill, but I was SOOO intimidated to go into that class because I was afraid I would look stupid. One of the beautiful things about home videos is you can look stupid (at first!) and NOBODY"S there to see it!! My confidence is so much better now thanks to Cathe, I swear, if I ever DO get certified (yeah, its a goal of mine for 2002) I will gear my class so NOBODY is intimidated. OK now that Ive gone on and on, Connie, I bought my step a link on this website, (look under products) I think it cost about 75 bucks with S&H, maybe more than your looking to spend, but sooo worth it. Check out vidoefitness.com too, sometimes they have bargain alerts! Happy New Year! Judy
