Good Days, Bad Days, and Criticism

Well, I don't know about you, but I am not a personal trainer nor am I an instructor-- so I don't expect to be able to do everything that Tony Horton or Cathe can do!! It really is up to your personal goals and the time that you have to train. I am limited because I have a full-time sedentary job that I have to spend 40+ hours per week at, so you do what you can. I enjoy my fitness but know that i will never be able to reach the level of someone like Cathe because its not my life and I only have about 1 hour per day. However, it is good to challenge yourself --so be proud that you are challenging yourself and taking care of your body and health. I know that its hard to reason that way, but number one is that you are doing something and working to achieve something that is benefiting you and your life. Don't make it so that you are constantly criticizing yourself-- you've got to pat yourself on the back once in awhile and look at the progress you have made. Knowing that you will always have limitations because you are human.

Goodluck. I know that some days are easier to think this way than others. I am a pull-up and a push-up weenie but I just look at my starting with P90X and hoping to see improvement at the end.

LOL Mindi!! I meant "trendy" in a everybody-is-doing-it-so-why-don't-you-way, not in a everybody's-into-it-and-its-foo-foo-exercise-way. See???

It was kinda a joke in that we all know AJock marches to the beat of her own drummer.

I sorta agree with Annette on her take on the price and I REALLY agree with Annette on the get-the-gun for Tony comments. Sorry guys, but he is every guy I loved to abhor back when I was a single gal (well, except for that BOD!):)

Janice there is really nothing to add. BUT...we all have up and down days and know what it's like to think "sheezzzz I'm going backwards". I think I mentioned in an earlier post that about 4-5 weeks into the P90X when everyone seemed to be doing "one more rep, pullup, pushup", I was pretty much loosing ground and wondering where they were all getting this energy. It's getting a little better on some days now, but other days, I'm a weenie and wonder why I can't seem to do ANYTHING. Sometimes I can just accept this, but other times I feel like screaming too. I refuse to cry, I'm more of a punch the wall kind of a person when I'm frustrated. But as AJ said....these experiences can drive me to push harder and conquer the beast.

And Tony, Tony, Tony.....yes you may want to shoot him, BUT, I am learning to appreciate his "you can do it this way, or that way, I don't care...just make it intense, make it work for you" attitude. AJ...you would like Phil, should have sent you that workout, maybe I'll just send you the clip so you can cheer with the rest of us P90Xers.

The best part of the BFL book was when he told the story of the two brothers, one of which was in a wheel chair. The other was complaining about having to get up in the morning and workout. The one in the wheel chair said (basically) "I'd do anything TO BE ABLE to workout" I'm sure any workout would have been acceptable. Isn't it cool that you CAN workout!!! This story has never left me - I can workout, what a waste if I don't when I'm able to.

You're doing great Janice (problem is you started out so darn muscular that your advancements are limited. Some of us were much greater weanies and therefore look like we've had incredible advancements :7 :7 :7 )
