good basic strength workout

Hi all,
I am in need of your opinions. I'm wondering which video/DVD you all would suggest for a good solid foundation for weight training. I'm wanting to start with a solid foundation and then, after I master that, what would you suggest to move on from there? Does that make any sense? Thanks in advance.

I started out with MIS. All the basic essential exercises, no fancy variations. Just what you need to begin with. others might suggest the Pure Stength Series: this would also be good, solid foundation.

I started with MIS also. It is a total body weight training workout. The reps are slow enough to use heavier weights and ends with some tough abs.

Another vote for MIS. You can use it as a split routine (lower body & upper body) if the full body workout is too challenging at first.

Hope you can get the Power Hour DVD which includes MIS & BodyMax. Cathe emphasizes the postural muscles in Power Hour so you get a nice variation.

Recently there was a poll at videofitness.com on strength training classics & the Pure Strength workouts got a lot of votes. It's a classic and a good choice after MIS.

I also vote for MIS. It's a basic, solid strength program. Plus, it comes with a lot of form pointers which is especially helpful when you are starting out.
