GOLFERS! Need gift ideas

Hello, all you golfers (and you know who you are) -

My uncle and his wife are rabid golf nuts, and I would like to send them a belated Christmas gift after getting together this past X-Max in Gloucester.

I know precisely zilch about the game, and I even less about their clothing sizes and clubs and what have you.

Could you give me some ideas of a nice gift, or gifts, I could send to them that they could USE in their obsession? Somewhat flexible on price, but let's not break the bank.

Thanks -

A-Jock

Hi A-Jock,

I started golfing last year (not sure if it was a good idea), and since I really suck at it, I would think golf balls would be a good gift...as a lot of mine end up in the woods, water hazards, tall grass, etc, etc. x(

Covers for their drivers might also be an idea -- one size generally fits all. Another thing, if you have any idea where they like to golf, is a gift certificate for greens fees. HTH

Besides standard golf balls and tees, a fun thing might be a rangefinder golf scope. It helps them determine their distance to the flag. These are fairly inexpensive starting around $10.00. You could probably get one at a sporting goods store.

Something else would be personalized towels. They always need towels for wiping water and mud off their balls and hands, etc.

A few ideas...

ANY book by author Bob Rotella (ie) "Golf is a Game of Confidence" He also has books on tape, which are great for golfers to practice focusing. He is the pioneer of Sports Psychology of golfers.

There is another book called, "The Zen of Golf" (I forgot the author), which is a great book.

You could get them a lesson at their club (they oftentimes give couple lessons together)

Or some golf balls - ask them what they use. This is not a cheap gift...some balls run about $5 EACH!?!?!

Anyway, good luck. Hope this helps a bit.

How about a gift certificate to Golf Digest or Golf? I second the book idea from Bob Rotella. His books helped me a lot in college. Also lesson fees and green fees are a good practical way to go. It's hard to choose things for golfers like balls, tees, clubs, etc. because we tend to be very picky and superstituous. At least I was in my competing days. I'm sure I'd be less so now. Good luck, Heather
