Going on Vaca..need suggestions

Goodmorning ladies,
I went to bed last night at 10:30.I can't beleive it.But then I got up at 6:30, all in all I think it was a good nights sleep.
Anyway, while I was doing power hour I was thinking about my vacation comming up.I am going to be going to visit my sister-in-law in another province so I am stressed to the max b/c i have never been away from my aerobics room for more then 2 days. The drive is going to be 18 hours.I can't even think about it.
I thought I had most of it figured out b/c I can just take my sneakers and run for cardio. And I can take my powerstrike videos. That won't be so bad.But I won't be able to lift any weights. Now, ladies do I just grin and bare this or do I take some elastoc tubbing with me and then do some push ups but even then I am sure to lose strenth gains.Unless, I nag my sister-in-laws boyfriend to take me to the gym.And I never go to gyms.It is to social and I am use to my own quarters now.
SO,would it be that bad to take a week of from the weights or should I look at it as a well needed rest? And enjoy my week off?
Anyone been in this situation before...should I ask Cathe? Not to mention that when you go one road trips that your eating habits go right out the window.I will probably come back 10 pounds heavier...lol.Any insight on this would be great.

Of course, you could look at this as a nice break. I think I heard (maybe on VF) that it's good to take a week off at least once a year.

You could also just do some freeweight stuff in front of the tv (since you're driving you could bring dumbbells). When I recently visited my Mom's, I ended up doing Firms 1-3, and they kicked my behind with that fast rep, low weight stuff.

Or, you might want to look at Christi Taylor's Balance, Strength and Flexibility. All you need is 5 lb handweights, and she really works you over. I was surprised at the soreness I felt. SHe even says on the tape to take it on vacation :).

Hope that helps,

Rose

The only problem with that is that we are driving my sister-in-laws car for her so we have to come back with my in-laws.There probably won'tbe a whole lot of room for dumbells.
And I don't have time enough to order a Christi tape. Are her tapes good? When I get back from vacation I have to order the new Cathe tapes. Thanks for the great suggestions just the same.I would imagine hat I am going to have to stick to the running, sit ups and push ups.

I second the suggestion for Christi's SB&F tape, it's great for vacations as is Karen Voight's Great Weighted Workout. I only use 3-5 lb dumbells. I think you could squeeze dumbells into the car, they dont take up much space!! And, have you considered ordering Christi's tape and having it delivered to your relative's house so it'll be there when you arrive??

That is a good suggestion.I never thought about that before.MAybe I will.Although I need to save all the money I can.i am hoping to do a little bit of shopping and I need to get my little girl fitted out for school.
Maybe I should listen to CAthe's suggestion.I listen to everything else she tells me to do.Even when I don't want to.lol
Thanks ladies for taking the time to give me suggestions,
Lori

You could do sets of slow and heavy (or just slow, lol) push-ups, and step-ups onto walls or benches outside wherever you find them. Also, slow sets of 16 static lunges in your room wherever you are, ab work a la CTX Kickbox where you straighten one leg and the same arm and do slow reps. Also you could do planks, and run.

You could, ahead of time, write up a list of several routines that would take 20 minutes each, so you don't have to decide right then, when you have time and the inclination to work out.

Lori..
If I were you I would take the whole time off. Maybe 1 or 2 cardios. Come back super-charged!!!

When on vacation, I take along my music tapes, my walking shoes, and my tubing from Spri products. I just did an upper body workout in a motel room with the tubing, and believe me, it did the job.

I wouldn't freak out over tapes or anything. And if you decide to take the time off from exercise, you WILL live.

I agree. Just take the time off (but keep active). You'll come back rested, won't have lost any progress and youll be VERY motivated.

The only rest I will get is with weights.I AM taking my runners with me.When I run it is usually for 45 min, so I get a good cardio work out.But I wll probably take some elastic tubing with me.I should soon get some of those things together.I am not leaving until Sunday but I have to work the rest of the week,2 nights, so I don't want to be left with everything to do on Saturday night.
We plan to leave at around 8:00 Sunday morning. We are driving.SO, my plan thus far is to get up at around 6 and do Body Max before I leave. That way I will ahve my weights in for that day and I will have my cardio done.I think I am addicted.lol.I just don't like taking to much time off b/c I find it hard to get back into it.Even when I take one day off which we should do anyway. The next day I am like...do I HAVE to do this.? But then when I get into it I can work out Twice a day if I have the time.
Anyway, thanks for all the great suggestions. And who knows maybe my sister-in-laws boyfriend has some 10 pound hand weights around. That I could work with.Although when I am home I usually use more but I could just do higher reps.I am going to stop talking now....
