Going from the FIRM to Cathe...

I have been doing the FIRM for about 2 years now and I am at a point where I just need some more intense workouts. I also dabble w/running. I am a fairly fit person. I just received LoMax, and I loved the workout, but it will take me a few times to figure out all of the footwork..at least I'm hoping. Step has always been my love so I know I'll figure it out. What should my next purchase be? I want to start using the stability ball w/my weights. I use bells, no weight bars yet. What would you suggest my next video be?

Becky

Hi Becky! Welcome to Cathe--she is the best. I also went from the FIRM to Cathe. I would recommend Supersets/Push and Pull DVD. It includes two full body strength workouts--both incorporate the stability ball, dumbbells, and a barbell--but you can sub the dumbbells until you get a barbell. Do you have a fanny lifter? These workouts also use Cathe's "high step"--the fanny lifter is basically the same thing.

The DVD also has tons of premixes (other variations of the workouts)--an upper body, a lower body and tons of others. It's an excellent purchase IMO.

Have a good time! There are so many great Cathe DVD's, it's hard to choose just one.

I too am a Firm convert. You will love Cathe. The workouts are fun and challenging. And they are all good, so you can't go wrong with your selection. My favorite is step, jump& pump & step blast (circuit training and all step). I substitute hand weights when Cathe uses the barbell. These workouts don't use the stability ball though. Push pull/supersets uses the ball as does the pyramid workouts. I prefer the pyramid workouts.

Enjoy

As another former FIRMie, I would recommend Cathe's Cardio and Weights DVD. The format of this workout is similar to the FIRM's where you do some cardio on the step, followed by a compound exercise (for example, squats and overhead press). Then, you do a couple of exercises for that upper body part using heavier weights. Then, it's back to cardio for 3 more circuits. She has a really tough stability ball ab workout following the last circuit.

The other workout on this DVD is IMax2. This is my all-time favorite interval workout that is fairly easy to learn.

I think you would really enjoy this one! :)
Welcome to the wonderful world of Cathe. You'll love her very challenging, and motivating, workouts. Before you know it, your FIRM tapes will be collecting dust (like mine are)!

I don't think Cardio & Weights has stability ball for the abs... I just did this one last week. It is a good circuit-style workout, though, and Imax 2 (the other workout on the DVD) is awesome! I'd go for that one next. I'm also a former Firmie, and I also really like Muscle Max (no stability ball, but nice work with a band). Pyramid Upper & Lower Body uses only dumbbells, no barbell, and PLB uses the stability ball in a neat way. Also High Step Training Advanced has a very Firm type circuit-style feel and is an excellent workout. You really can't go wrong with any Cathe IMO, but those are my picks :)

Supersets, Push/Pull, Core Max all use the stability ball. I am not a stability ball person per se, but Cathe gives me just enough so that I can enjoy stability ball workouts. I still can't do a jacknive by trying.

My 1st purchase was the gym styles.
You can use dumbells instead of a barbell in any exercise.
I was not getting the results with the firm.
To me the most challenging is the gym style series.I live the weights and band work.
Core max blows away jiggle free abs.
I felt almost like a beginener when i started cathe verses the firm.
I can lift so much heavier now and body has changed alot.
Lo max is my favorite step. Low impact and works.
Imax 2 my second.
Gym style chest and tri's still kick my butt.
I say with these you can't go wrong.
I have evrything but cross train express.
Once you cathe it you will never go back to the firm.
Just wait.

Hey Becky! I too went from the Firm to Cathe and let me tell you Cathe totally ROCKS!!! don't get me wrong, I still love my firms but they are not as intense as Cathe. When I do my Cathe's I get such a rush and feel awesome when I'm done!!!! She is tough!! I have low max and do it a few times a week because I love it so much. I had trouble with the steps at first but after a few tries I got it so you will too! Once you start with Cathe believe me you will get hooked!!! I have almost all of her Hardcore Series and am starting to collect the rest of her videos. I allow myself one Cathe DVD a month. I know it will take a long time before I have them all but that's okay. When I get one in the mail its like Christmas!!!!
I don't have supersets/push pull yet (I think that's the one that was recommended to you) but it is actually next on my list to get. I do have "Kick Punch and Crunch and Legs and Glutes" (they are one the same DVD). KPC is the BEST AND TOUGHEST kickboxing tape I have (and I have alot of them) and I love love love it. so if you are looking for a non-step super tough cardio tape that one is a good one to get. I do KPC and Low Max as my cardio workouts for the week. I alternate them. I love them so much! Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
T.

PS: You will become addicted just like all the girls have been saying. I have probably over 100 workout videos and I basically only do my Cathes and I have probably around 15 of those. I keep telling myself I should rotate them since I have so many but everytime I go to workout I grab one of my Cathe's instead. I'm totally ADDICTED to her!!!!
