GOD does he really care about me???

How do YOU feel about YOU? You have strength within yourself, and I hope that you can find it. Life can be sooo hard. Please don't sell yourself short.

I have not had the chance to read any of your responses so sorry if I repeat...

I don't think we can trust in God to work things out or take care of things for us. I think we need to trust in God that He will give us the power, strength, courage and determination to work it out ourselves.
 
I pray that things will start to look up for you.

I believe that God helps those that help themselves. I'm not a predestination, fate or karma believer. I believe we choose our options and our consequences.

I recently finished up a Scout religious program and one of the chapters was in listening to God. Some of the wisdom I heard from the teenage boys was amazing. The crux of it all was God is everywhere and his message was everywhere, we just have to listen and interpret.

There isn't going to be a phone call or email from God saying "do this", however maybe just one piece of advice from a friend, loved one or even one of your fellow "Cathe-ites" might have "pearl" from heaven in it.

Keep your faith even if it's the last thing you have.

((((Teddygirl)))) As I read your post I was filled with the presence of a friend of mine who in one year lost her pregnant daughter to a viral infection, had a son charged with vehicular manslaughter and had her hand crushed in a wood splitting accident. Even with all of this she exuded peace, comfort, strength and faith. She was a touch stone for me through some really tough times. When I asked her something beginning with 'why?' she looked at me with compassion and love and said 'Laurie, all I know about 'why' is 'why's' crooked'. It's no answer really but whenever I think 'Good God, WHY??' I see Lois' beautiful face and remember her answer. 'Why's crooked', why is most often an unanswerable question.
God, Yaweh, Allah, Buddah, Harold, whatever you call the all encompassing universal energy is yours to draw upon but our conduit with the universe must be open and receptive to the call. I too thought of what Heather said, it's an amazingly powerful thing to quiet yourself and repeat as a mantra 'be still and know that I am God'. Although I am a lapsed Catholic (recovering actually;-) ) I still find tremendous comfort in the scripture 'by my stripes so are you healed'. Better days are coming Teddygirl, another of my favourite mantras...time & trust, time & trust....know that we are praying for you and that a burden shared is lessened:)

You guys are the BEST, I really mean it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you guys said some very encouraging words that helped me make it though today.

God, has placed a song in my heart that I have been singing. My mother use to sing to me when I was a little girl, The verse goes like this:

ETA that you have offended nobody. It is so refreshing to see honest feelings, and I think that God would agree. He would rather have you angry at him than walking through life pretending that everything is okay

Teddygirl, good for you to have the courage to just cry out a little bit in these forums--taking the risk that someone would chew you out for "going there". Looks like nobody chastised you--I'm so relieved. Thank you for opening up like that. I wasn't able to read everything, and don't know many details, but I will pray that God will give you the peace and strength to just wait on Him. He loves you, cares about you, and orchestrates your life EVEN IF YOU DON'T FEEL it. Your emotions aren't the source of Truth, okay? Somewhere in Psalms it says that "God is near to the broken-hearted." Other versions say He's near to the crushed in spirit. Romans 8:26 will tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in prayer--praying FOR us even when we don't know what to say or what to pray.

I guess at this point I've jumped into speaking to you as if you're Christian--if you're not, I apologize. Remember that God has declared you righteous because of what Christ did FOR you--not because you did enough good things or confessed your sins enough times or remembered to say all the right things.

Now I guess I need to stop before this gets even more wildly inappropriate on the Cathe forums.

Teddygirl! I wanted to pass a saying on to you that my father always said to me growing up when I asked why God wasn't answering my prayers. My father said, "God answers EVERY prayer that is said. Sometimes the answer is "Yes", sometimes it's "NO", and sometimes it's, "Not now, wait a while."

Please know that we are with you in spirit and keep plugging along!

In her book, A Little Pot of Oil, Jill Briscoe describes a time early in her ministry when she confided in an older friend that she had run out of strength and was resentful and exhausted. Jill's attention was directed to the little pot of oil within her. "You have all you need within you, Jill," said the woman, "in the person of the Holy Spirit. You have heavenly help a heartbeat away. It works as you begin to appropriate what you have. Go home, shut the door, and spend time with the Lord. Then begin to pour out whatever you have into the empty vessels of your neighbors."

That wasn't exactly what Jill wanted to hear; but she went home, shut the door, and asked God to show her where to begin pouring. "Give me an idea, Lord," she prayed. Then she arose, called a babysitter, and set off for the town center where she began pouring her life into high risk teens, opening a period of ministry that transformed the lives of many young people.

If you're at the place God wants you to be, don't quit. Instead, shut the door, pray, and ask God to give you a fresh idea for His work. Then begin pouring out of your little pot of oil. And as you pour out, God will pour in!


We have to step out and pour out, trusting that the Holy Spirit will fill us and give us what we need to continue.

Faith is hard sometimes. No one really knows if there is a God. We all would like to think that there is more to life than what we are living. I think there might be something. When I think about it, there could be things going on, for us to teach others or learn and love. Perhaps there is infinity out there, and we only see a part of it, and can't see the whole picture. When I think of it that way, my mind can expand to many many different things that could happen. Wonderful, beautiful things.

For this life, it is so very hard, yes it is. Everyone that is living has a story to tell. I think all we can do is try to think as positive as we can, be kind to people and explore other things out there. For me, a man made church was so hard to live up to. Most people have faith in them, but I don't. I do believe in a higher power. For instance I think I have a spirit self that guides me. Why not? Anyway give some peace to others, or give joy to someone. Perhaps one day you will also recieve those things. I hope that you do.

I have no answers, just thoughts, and I try to make them wonderful and beautiful. Take care, I know you are crying out, and I hope someone has just the right words for you to hear. Take care little soul.

I don't believe in a deity of any kind. I do believe in people. Your problems are yours to solve, as they are for all of us. What will help you to move forward is to seek help from and lean on others, just as you would let them lean on you if they needed help. It could be in the shape of a doctor, therapist, a partner, dear friends, family, whomever. Help them to help you by seeking guidance and support. Crying out into cyberspace will not help. Directing your pleas for help at a real person, with details of how they could help you, just might do.

As Nancy said, we can help, as we often do. Part of the function of these boards is to help others. After all, between us, we all have a wealth of experience of many kinds: ask away and maybe some of us can help you with some of the specific problems in your life.

And again, I do not believe in any god of any kind, but I did read in a book recently of a character who railed against god at the altar in a Catholic church. The priest who overheard was encouraged by her act of faith. After all, only someone who got really angry with god and shouted her rage at him could really believe in him. You can't get angry with someone in whom you do not believe, right?

But again, the character's problems were solved by the people in her life. Once she confided in them, that is.....

Check out this website for a novel idea on who God is and how much He cares for mankind. It will blow your mind. Hang in there when you start reading because if you have been in church for a long time the ideas will knock your socks off, but bring you peace. Martin is not your typical preacher.
