GNC

Is there anyone else here who buys their supplements from GNC? I usually buy from Whole Foods but I'm not that pleased with the protien powder I've tried, . . and I feel like I've tried them all! So under recomendation from my brother I went into a GNC to try out a protien powder called BCN syntha6 (anyone else try this?), . . .only when I went in and asked for it the guy who seemed to really know a whole lot told me that it isn't that great for what I was trying to do which is lean out and lose the last 10lbs (peak). He told me that the BCN synta6 has transfats in it, . . read the label and then started talking about about all these aminos and vitamins, and good greif I couldn't keep up. I mean I could tell he knew his stuff. He asked me about my workout regimine and my goals, . . .andn 30 minutes later I walked out with $100 in protein powder and a GNC active womens multivitamin pack good for a month. I should mention that the guy did say that he does not get comission and that his advice was just based on what he knows. So I get home feeling great about my new goodies and then realize that he recommended only GNC brand products, so have I been scamed? I mean he even told me that if I hated it that I could bring in the unused product for a full refund. Darn it, . . all this supplementation gets a little overwhleming sometimes and I'm starting to wonder if supplements even help? Any thoughts, comments? As always I love hearing what everyone here has to say. I tend to trust fellow Cathe followers and really value everyones advice and opinions so thanks in advance.

Hmmm, I thought they did make commission on their sales? I could be wrong.

I truly hope you weren't scammed. I'd try the protein powder he suggested, if you don't like the taste, take it back.

My recommendation for protein powder is either ON Whey Gold Standard - it has no artificial sweeteners in it and the chocolate tastes way good, or BSN Lean Desert. Their flavors are awesome!

I actually use the Syntha 6 and have had no problem leaning out (well, when I'm not EATING LIKE A PIG). I like the taste too. I have a GNC Gold Card where you get a 20% (I think) discount on the first 5 days of the month - BUT, I found that vitacost.com has the BSN Syntha 6 alot cheaper than even GNC's discount price, so I've been ordering through them (except for last month cuz I got a coupon for BOGO 1/2 off at GNC for it so I used that and ended up getting them for a steal!).

I find GNCs brand of protein powders not as tasty - I can't attest to the quality, but I've found them grainy. I do take their vitamins though - but not the "pak", I just take the multivitamin.

GNC got hit by the FTC a few years back about their supplements. Since then, everything you see on the label IS in the supplement. It has to be or else they would be shut down. I buy my supplements and most of my vitamins from GNC.

Hi,

I use the GNC brand of protein powder exclusively. I have tried a lot of other brands and just like the taste of theirs. It disolves well in the blender and mixes well with oatmeal, so I am happy!

ITA with Debbie-- if you don't like it, I would totally take it back. Especially if you're having second thoughts or regrets about it. For what it's worth I'm also an ON Whey Gold Standard fan.

I really hope he was being honest with you-- uggh, I hate feeling scammed!

Awe blast, . . . .I wouldn't be surprised if they make commission. Thanks Debbie, . . I'll check into the ON Whey Gold Standard. I like that there are no artificial sweeteners, it seems like they all have some sort of artificial sweetener to mask the taste. :(

Thank you everyone! Awe, ..crap I think I was scammed. I hate that. Well, I knew I should have gone with my gut, . . I kept eyeing that BSN dessert but the guy seemed to really know what he was talking about. Thank goodness he wasn't selling dirty underwear I probably would have bought it. :( I guess I'll give it a week and then back it goes if I don't like it. With all the different supplements and protein choices darn it, . .it is so easy to get overwhelmed and not know what to get. It seems like everything I read recommends something different. Thanks again to everyone who responded. I can always trust everyone here to tell me like it is! You guys are awesome! :)

I personally like GNC brand protein powder and I also agree with Debbie that ON Gold Standard is good too. I've never had trouble with GNC products so give them a try and I agree with others that if you don't like it just take it back.
