Getting to know my fitness friends....

LAST EDITED ON Oct-17-02 AT 08:23AM (Est)[p]I just finished (it took me 2 days!!!) reading "a little about ourselves..." Yes, I posted. But I wanted to start a new thread just to say how impressed I am that it seemed that most of the ladies (& Trevor--whom I still owe a picture!) that posted are over the age of 30. I have too much time on my hands--I actually counted--34 people are over the age of 30 & only 10 were under (if I counted correctly & Honeybunch was the last person to post). I had this image in my head that there were a few of us but I had no idea there were so many!

Lately, I've been wondering if I will still want to exercise when I'm over 45. I am THRILLED to see so many of you older than that (I guess it is just a number) & I just wanted to say--THANK YOU FOR THE INSPIRATION!!!!

I know what you mean, Gettingfit! When my husband and I visited his mother (now dearly departed, sadly) down in Phoenix, her across-the-way neighbor in her townhome complex was a habitual 10K runner - at the tender age of 80. When I found that out I almost did back flips - I thought "age will NEVER be an excuse, or a barrier!"

One of my goals is to be able to do Interval Max when I'm precisely twice the age I am now - i.e. 82!

I'm enjoying these round-up threads!

Gettingfit, I thought about that too when I was reading the same thread. It is awesome to see so many of us over "30" exercising for life...it is a lifestyle, indeed. Good thread. Keep exercising my friends!

Gettingfit,

I, too, am excited by the over 30 crowd. The other cool thing is that so many of us have kids, and we are setting such an example for them! Hopefully they will live longer and healthier lives because of it.

One of the highlights of my parental "tour of duty" was when my then 14 yr. old son started asking me for workout tips and fitness advice!

The way I see it. Most of us will probably continue exercising indefinately. At some point we may change the impact stuff though! But, wow 80 years old and running. That is sooo kooool!

I feel the same way. My mom, she's 76, has on her bulletin board - If you rest, you'll rust. She is very active and very healthy.

I actually missed that one! I couldn't agree more with you! My daughter has been involved with dance since she was 7 & absolutely loves the defninition she has in her legs & abs! She even has read a couple of books on nutrition--not dieting but real nutrition! Don't get me wrong, she loves her cookies & milk & a snickers bar--but the fact that she cares about the other stuff she is putting into her body just gives me such pleasure!

I have not had a chance to post over there yet- too busy reading first but I also love the over 30 stat! Also, I liked seeing all the mothers. What a great example we are setting for our kids.

I'm part of the over 30 club myself :) Plus a mother of 3- looks like I am in VERY good company!!
