Getting the flu! What to do?

Well, all the excitement from yesterday must have weakened my immune system because I woke up with a scratchy throat, and as the day went on, my voice disappeared and I'm starting to feel achy (and maybe feverish?). Everyone and their brother told me I can't take any medications -- I usually don't anyway. I just want some reassurance that being sick doesn't hurt my baby -- and if anyone has any drug-free, morning-sickness-friendly remedies, I'd love to hear them!

I've always thought it was really cruel to first of all be pregnant and sick with morning sickness and then catch something on top of it...just doesn't seem quite fair.

My advise....discontinue all dairy products as they make sore throats, colds even worse. Take loads and I mean loads of vitamin C (if you can find Emergen C fizzy drink mix - this stuff is worth it's weight in gold). I've taken 2000 per hour if I know I'm fighting something. At least take 1000 every few hours if your worried about taking more. Drink, drink, drink, if you can. If you have garlic capsules, this is great too. I like fresh garlic which tastes gross, but if you can get it back in your throat, it usually kills the sting of a sore throat instantly. If you can stomach fresh garlic, it really helps more than the pills. Just a few natural and safe remedies. Prayers that you'll get over this soon!!!

Remember you can take Tylenol (acetaminphen) safely while pregnant. I think I've caught my first cold of the season. I suckled on a cough drop last night--just until my throat numbed up so I could sleep. I just woke up from a nap & feel very tired/worn down. I think I'll skip Bible study tonight & take it easy.

I am really sick with a cold right now. My Dr. told me I could take Sudafed and Robitussin DM. I took some of both tonight mostly b/c I couldn't breathe!

Now I am wondering if maybe I shouldn't have.

Have you called your Dr. yet?
