Getting surgery - need suggestions

Hello Cathe,

Words cannot explain the awe that I'm in with these new videos. The creativity is outstanding. Where do you get your ideas from? Anyway, my question is about "functional training". (Good idea for a future video huh?) I will be getting surgery very soon due to my achilles tendinosis problem, and I want to know if you can suggest any type of workouts I can do for lower body once I get this procedure done. The tendon that is connected to my big toe will be have to be cut so it can replace my achilles tendon, and the tendon that connects to my other 4 toes will be extended so it can connect to my big toe, so all 5 toes will flex together. Huge procedure! But I will need you during that time. Please let me know.

Hello Candy. Hopefully Cathe can reply to your post soon. I just wanted to say that years ago I had an accident and I hurt one of my ankles pretty badly. Before that, I was doing Cathe every week. I spent about 6 weeks without exercising which was pretty frustrating and when I was told I could exercise again I couldn't do high impact. I just played a little music in my room and danced just so I could get my heart rate up and I slowly added circuits with weights. The only standing exercise that I did for my lower body was squats, the rest were inner thigh and outer thigh lifts on the floor and ab crunches. I worked out my upper body without problems. After two weeks of doing that then I started walking again and kept doing the same kind of exercises for my lower body. Then I added low impact circuit training videos for 3 weeks and then I started slowly with Cathe (mostly her weight training workouts and CTX for my cardio). If something like that ever happens to me again I would exercise in a pool doing some aqua aerobics and weights and all the good stuff they have for that kind of training nowadays. If this is an option for you and your doctor says is okay I would do this too.

I hope you recover pretty soon and I wish you the best with your surgery.

Thank You Rose11. I truly appreciate your comments, suggestions, and prayer! Thanks for taking time out of your day to share with me what happened to you. I'm addicted to Cathe's videos, and honestly I do not want the surgery because I know I cannot do her tapes for quite some time. I will for sure try everything you did. That's what I needed to know. Thanks again!!!!

Wishing you a quick recovery. I know how frustrating an injury can be when you are wanting so much to get back to your regular fitness routine! Good luck.

Hi Candy! Sending extra thoughts & prayers your way. I can soo relate since I just recovered from a looong drawn out injury. NO FUN! Just tell yourself it is temporary and really hit the UB & ABS hard. Also, I am assuming (after checking with your doc) that you can do lying down LB work, such as inner/outer thigh work??? I broke my toe a few years back and was still able to use my Bun & Thigh Rocker because all the weight was put into my heels. Not sure this would be an option for you though due to the seriousness of your operation. You surely don't want to take any unnessary chances. Maybe you could do hamstring work by putting all weight on your heels? Sorry, I know how frustrating it is. Don't panic yet. You might be surprised what you CAN do. Hang in there and keep us posted. Big hugs to you!
