Getting Our Licks In!

Shoegal: I FINALLY< FINALLY got the figure 8 step! It is in a lot of Cathe step DVD's and I never fully nailed it down, and yesterday on Insanity I finally got it! Partly I had the time to rewind it a few times 9 and I have been working on it for awhile here and there) and partly I was so winded by the workout I actually needed the break so I didn't feel like I was 'cheating' myself by pausing and rewinding!:eek:

Ladubose - you might have a sinus infection. That is EXACTLY how I feel when I get one. I start feeling like I am getting sick and then I feel better for a day and then start feeling bad again and then better again - it feels like I am always on the verge of getting a cold but I never do. In the past, I never realized what was going on so I waited to go to the doctor - eventually if I waited long enough (like a month or so) my sinus infection would get really bad and then it was obvious I was sick. I have had these things for so many years that I now can recognize that I am getting one within a few days and off to the doctor I go.

Okay now to workouts - I am not following Cathe's schedule much this month due to missing a week when I had the sinus infection. Yesterday I did Muscle Max - I really like that one. I am suppose to do Lower Body Blast but since my behind already hurts from yesterday I think I am going to pick an upper body workout and then a short cardio DVD.

Hey! It's Friday and my rest day! Ya-hoooo! I haven't had a true rest day in some time. It's either Cathe (STS), cardio and karate, without a break. But today, neither one is on my schedule. I am very thankful for that. Tomorrow, though I do a regular karate class, a sparring class and then STS. At least its a Saturday, right?

Laura, I am confused with your reference to Insanity. Are you doing Shaun T's Insanity or are you referring to Intensity? Cathe's newest Step workout? I would also highly recommend Rhythmic Step, IMAX 1, Body Max 1 and Power Hour. Can't believe you don't have those. They are great! Rhythmic Step is one of my all time favorites!

Gotta go for now, class is starting in a few minutes, but I thought I'd post a quick one!

Hello out there - been having a poor week - where I don't feel so hot. I have been feeling achey and headachey and it hurts my head if I cough PLUS my back is a mess!! I hate the back issues but I have been diligent about stretching, icing and being careful. I didn't exercise Tuesday or Wednesday - I just didn't feel well. I seem to be like everyone else - where it feels like I'm coming down with something - then I feel better - then I feel blah! Basically I feel run down. :p:( Yesterday I did Gi Quong for lower back pain. I got Rex to do the partner massage. I though that was going to feel so terrific - sort of like INSTANT pain relief - well - that didn't happen. :( But the stetches felt nice - and I opted out of some standing parts where Lee wanted me to bend over and do this rocking motion that follows the movements of nature. Nah!!! Count me out.

All of my Valentine's Day decor is out. I actually thought - well, it will take me 5 minutes to stick this stuff out. I had more stuff than I thought - it took more than 5 minutes. I broke a plate - GEEZE!!!! I manage to break everything - I glued the plate back together - it looks alright. But oh well - I shoved all the Christmas stuff in my back room to put away this weekend. It is all in boxes - I just need to organize some more there.

Laura - Great job on the figure 8!!! All of those moves have the potential of being confusing - especially when you turn your back to the tv. Did you mean you did Intensity?? I didn't think you had Insanity. Well - I haven't done the whole thing yet - but I tried to do the step only premix - HARD!!! Very difficult - I do think it is more intense than the HITT sections - I've done a couple of those premixes with the boot camp thrown in - I found those very enjoyable.

We got snow!! About 4 inches - 12 degrees this morning too. Hope everyone has a great weekend - GO STEELERS!!

Did Body Max this morning - all of it . Again, I kept everything low impact. If Cathe jumps, I don't :p. Right now, I am carrying too much weight to abuse my knees like that and I still get a good workout. Grady watched me workout - rather bored (ha). Later I took him outside for an hour and threw his chuck-it frisbee in the deep snow for him to chase. He LOVES that and he is really tired right now - I am so evil....

Today, I did the 4DS premix, chest, shoulders, and triceps. Felt good to lift weights, but all those push-ups--woowhee!

It's very, very cold here by Virginia standards but I know that Shoegal and Elle_P are having much colder weather than we are. Ripken and I took our evening walk, but even he knew it was pretty dang cold outside. I think Ripken and I might both need an extra layer tomorrow morning for our walkabout.

Laura: Congratulations on finally getting the figure 8 move. Hope you were able to get your order in for Powerhour , RS and Body Max. They are all great workouts. I'm toying with doing Body Max tomorrow. Michele_Z may have inspired me to go for it.

Shoe_gal: Oh boy--another one of us fighting the winter cold season. I've just about got my cold licked. All I can say is get some rest and be sure to eat right. DH has got a cold now and he is not the best about being sure he eats when I am not here. We will be rooting for the Steelers this weekend too.

Okay--time to call it a day. Be back tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great Friday evening and sweet dreams.
Michelle

Laura, Great job on Imax 2 and Insanity yesterday, all the way through. Yeah. Well done! Hope you feel better soon.:(

MecheleZ, Great job on MM. Whoo Hoo! And all of BM this morning. Well done.

Renee, It's about time you had a rest day. I bet when you get back you will feel even stronger.

Shoegal, I sure do hope you feel better soon, back and sinuses. Great job on Gi Quong, the message must have felt like hurtful. Hope your back get's better soon. I was wondering why you are so late on your decorations. LOL You are a decoholic! LOL:D Yeah! Have fun in the snow. 4 inches can build a nice snowman.

Michelle, Great job on 4DS premix, chest, shoulders, and triceps. I, know, there are a lot of push ups to do, but you did em. Yeah!

Janie

Janie - you are a real inspiration! Seriously you kick butt :).

Somehow I managed to lose 5 pounds in the last 4 weeks.....I knew Cathe was kicking my hiney but didn't realize it was that much

Did 30 min. cardio on mini trampoline.

MicheleZ, There is no such thing as somehow losing 5 pounds. You worked it off! Congratulations! Very proud of you.:) When a person comes back to life with fitness and health, as you did, right then and there, that is an inspiration in itself. Makes me want to continue on too.

Well it does feel good to be back on track. Don't get me wrong, I have kept busy with hiking with Grady and stuff but that was never enough to really challenge me like Cathe does. The last few years when our shepherds were older, we cut down on the walking because they were getting older and couldn't handle the heat and cold or the miles that they did when they were young. I sort of took a break with them which was a bad idea.

Good evening ladies. Still super duper cold here which means Ripken and I are taking more walks--shorter in length. Even the pup knows when it is just too darn cold. Today I did Step Jam--a good 60+ minutes of step and sweat. Felt good to do a full up workout. I thinking High Reps tomorrow--maybe upper and lower body--eek!

I have finally convinced one of my local friends to get on the CatheNation. I am hoping that she will join us on our check-in. Her name in Angela Emery and she is one awesome person.

MicheleZ: it's really great that you are getting back in the swing of things and that you are working away the weight. Nothing like results to keep you motivated. High fives to you!

DH is still struggling with his cold (did I mention that he has a cold). Unfortunately I believe that he probably caught it from me. With DH under the weather, I have to be a little more engaged with cooking (ugh) and doing things like going to the grocery store. I had to do that today. I can't remember the last time I did the grocery shopping. I swear I was ready to drink by the time I got home. Took Rippy for a walk instead.

So who is getting snow today? Anyone? How about some nice warm sunshine and clear blue skies? Don't we all just wish....

~Michelle

Day off for me here in CO. It was a snowy day & I got caught up in Organizational Max!!

Going skiing tomorrow with family!

Michelle; hmm actually that did happen to me last year & it did turn out to be a sinus infection! Guess I should make an appointment with the doc on Mon. Congratulating you on your 5 lbs gone!,

Janie: sounds like you have a good plan on tackling your goals! You are making good progress.

Michelle: glad you are better & getting back into full swing

Shoegal: it does feel good to nail a move that has been tripping you up! It makes the workouts so much smoother as well. I havent put out the Valentines decorations yet. I have the boxes out but haven't put them up yet. I did get some cute stuff for the girls at Target already.. Going with a spa theme as they are turning into little ladies! A sort of Paris/ spa theme. I just need a few chocolates and I an call it good. Bo has reservations for us already!! Feel better

Cat chick;; hope you enjoyed your rest day!

Yesterday was a lot of "exercise". STS, and two karate classes. I had the pleasure of two sparring partners yesterday. One was a 3rd degree black belt, and the other was a green belt (one below blue) but both were guys. The black belt understands "light contact" while the green belt just about took my head off in a reverse punch. I can take a punch pretty good, but that one had a "whiplash" affect and I wasn't very pleased. I finally made good connection straight on to his facemask, but at least it wasn't "whiplash" like. I will probably mention to him, that its "light contact" next time we spar and not take my head off. I'm only 5'4" and both these guys were much bigger then me. I usually don't whine about these things...but daggone, that hit was the hardest one I have taken to date. Geesh!

My knee is improving every day. Today I have cardio on the rotation...supposed to be a HiiT, but that is doubtful. Gonna go with step, but not real sure which one.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Rest day today.

Michelle, Great job on Step Jam, I love that one.:) Hoping Angela will join our forum, it would be great to meet this awesome person. Darn those colds anyway. Make sure your DH gets plenty of rest and drink lots lots of liquids. We are having lots of rain and flooding going on here in the Pac. NW.

Laura, Organizations Max, I bet things are nice and neat. That's something my Joey loves to do. I clean, but he my organizer.

Renee, Great job on your many exercises, STS and Karate classes. Men are so much stronger than women, I just feel like you should of had a sparing partner that was equal to your ability. Or is that what's it's about, protecting yourself? Of course it is. I just don't like what I'm envisioning. Stay safe. I'm glad to hear your knee is improving.

Have a really nice weekend everyone.

Janie

Still cold here in Virginia, but Ripken and I managed to get our long walk in this morning before the wind started blowing. I don't mind walking in the cold but when the wind gets going--it just takes a bit of the joy out of our walks. Did High Reps today--the whole dang thing. That was a first for me. So far, I've only done the high reps upper body premix. Today was upper and lower and I sure hope I can move tomorrow. The plate work at the end is particularly good. Cathe throws a new move in on the plate work--lots of fun.

DH is feeling a little better today. He slept more than he was awake last night. I'm thinking that me making him eat 3 good meals a day has something to do with him feeling better. I'm off to New Orleans this week so I've got a big pot of spaghetti sauce (with plenty of meat and meatballs) on the stove. He also has left over rotisserie-chicken so he has no excuses for not eating.

As most of you will recall, Valentine's Day is my DH's birthday. This year we are doing something extra special to celebrate: we are going to Negril, Jamaica for 11 days. We will be staying at Sandals--couples only, all-inclusive. Ripken will go stay with Joe's son and DIL. So two weeks of lots of work coming up and then almost 2 weeks off in the sunny Caribbean. Looking forward to it.

Sister: okay, so don't the karate instructors pay attention when they have people sparring? Where were Master Ali and Hugh? They should be saying something to these *&^*#$ men who are trying to take advantage of being paired with a woman. Just doesn't seem right to me. If I were you, I wouldn't spar with that green belt meanie again. What if you get a concussion? Geez!

Laura: how much snow do you all have on the ground in Colorado? Do you take Misty out with you skiing?

Shoegal: we'll be rooting for your Steelers later today.

Janie: rest days are great. Love those when they are on the schedule.

Hi to Shadowpup, Michele_Z, and Elle_P. I'll be at a conference in New Orleans this week, but will try to check in. Angela is supposed to be there as well with her DH who is one of the Marines with whom I work. It will be nice to have someone to workout with this week.

~michelle

Today I managed to do LowMax Step combos only and STS 11. Tomorrow will be karate only. As for sparring with the green belt meanie (lol), I figured that next time I could accidentally get a low blow kick in!!! :) Any how, its better to spar with people better then you. The green belt is one belt below me, but still a guy, and we do wear protective gear. But guys don't wear cups...so...roflmao...kidding...I think!

Sad to see the Bears lose, but the Steelers are kicking some but. Its half time, and I can't wait to get back to the game! Go Steelers...all the way! SuperBowl Champs!

~Renee

GO STEELERS!!!!

Super excited here in Pittsburgh!!!! Not a pretty game in the 2nd Half but a win!!! My family got together for a little playoff party and we were all standing there near the end in an effort to root the Steelers to victory. Woo Hoo!!! Go Steelers!!

Michelle - I say - don't go out in the cold especially with the wind blowing. The girls go out and then turn around & head right back in. OMG - have a fantastic time on your trip!!!!! - that is a great way to celebrate Joe's b-day - and I hope Joe gets well soon - but I think a little tropical weather ought to help!!

Renee - The Steeler's didn't kick any butt in the 2nd half - but you can kick that greenbelt meanie anywhere you want as far as I'm concerned!!

Janie - No snowmen for me -it is like fridgid out there!!! Good job on your workouts - you do kick some butt!

Laura - O-Max - we all need a little of that. All my Christmas is away THANK GOD!! and I did a little more Valentine's Day decorating. Rex and I are doing dinner again this year - at a little Irish Pub about 45 minutes away. It was so cute when we stopped there on a wine tasting weekend we always wanted to go back - so we are!!

MicheleZ - congrats on 5 pounds lost - good job!!!

I feel a better than I have been - I will be doing my same old step workout again tonight - I think it will feel good to sweat hard.

Hey everyone! Did Rhythmic Step today - I followed much better than I thought I would for not having previewed it.

I am really excited about the sale on the Shock Cardio Series - I am going to order it on Friday. Can't pass up the entire series for $75 bucks! That doesn't include Travel Fit because I downloaded that one. I was willing to eventually spend the $199 so now I am super happy :eek:
