Getting in Shape with Videos-Vent

Farmer

Cathlete
My DH who is not in shape, is telling me that I am not going to be able to lose weight and get in shape with Cathe alone.
He is saying that I have to run and play raquetball, etc.

I did it before with Vol 1 of the Firm 15 years ago. That was the only tape I had and it whipped me into shape. BTW I only want to lose 10 pounds.

Just had to vent.

Easy to solve. Have him do a Cathe with you. After my DH did a Cathe weight work-out with me and was sore for weeks, he has pronounced Cathe an alien God.

I think a lot of people have images of leotarded, leg warmered, head banded women bouncing around doing crazy jazz hand movements when they think of video fitness. Just let him have a gander at Slow and Heavy and/or Butts and Guts and he'll change his tune.

umm, yeah. Throw in Imax 3 followed by a Gym Style and see what is opinion is.

just blow it off! You said your DH is out of shape (mine too) so any remarks like that just sound to me like he's trying to justify why he's out of shape...Now my DH is VERY supportive but for himself he says he cant go to community gym in am or pm....or run the hilly golf course across the street from us because of time issues. As far as I'm concerned home fitness pretty much takes away time/money/convenience reasons... that leaves no desire.
Just say thanks for your opinion and press play.... at some point even he will have to agree that home fitness can and does work!
There are just way too many testimonials about all of it... myself included. Just remember not to waste the energy on a debate... those comments are about HIM not you or any at home program.
:)

IMO it doesnt matter what you do(videos, sports, walk,or run) JUST DO IT and DO IT CONSISTENTLY. don't listen to him,my dh was skeptical too, now he sometimes goes out of his way to point out a video in the store to me.

but on the other hand, you won't lose with jsut cathe alone, or any other exercise for that matter. proper rest and eating are VITAL in that equation as well. so you can tell him he was HALF right LOL

He doesn't sound like an expert in 'getting in shape,' so just prove him wrong!

Tee hee: I substitute a 'jazz hand' for those odd "shake water off theh hands" move in Drill Max (is it?). I figure the idea is just "silly hand motion," and I digs me those jazz hands!:p

Like everyone else has stated, it doesn't sound like he's much of an "expert" in the field, so what would he know anyway!? I wouldn't worry about it, blow it off and get busy! I have't been to a gym in the last 2 years (except for the week I was visiting my in-laws) and have done all my working out at home (and lost 70+ lbs in the process). Granted, I am not where I'd like to be, but heck, we all have to have a goal to strive for, right???

Personally, I'm going to double-knot my laces and stick with Cathe! She's done great by me so far!

Has he ever watched a Cathe workout??? Has he ever tried one? There's so much variety with Cathe, if you eat right and enjoy the all the different workouts she has to offer, you'll definitely get into shape.

My daughter, who is a personal trainer and works out in a gym, told me several years ago when I started doing Cathe that she noticed a marked increase in my fitness level -- from fit to super fit. Though she herself doesn't work out to dvds, she sees their effectiveness for me! [She's also been interested to see the moves, such as the Arnold Press, that Cathe includes includes in her strength workouts -- moves that DDe herself does in her workout.] I think the word of a professional personal trainer (who has an eye for fitness improvement) is worth taking seriously!

Thanks ladies for your positive responses. I know that with proper eating, rest, and Cathe I can do it.

I will post pics when I get to my goal.
