getting definition

That's really very good. Try drop sets like Cathe does in GS Chest - you could do from 30 down to 2 for a total of 240. Skip the girlie ones entirely.

do you think everyday with pushups? and how long should it take to see muscle improvement as far as definition with those?

thanks, thats what I am hoping for ,more definition in the shoulders. I will try doing them everyday for a month or so and see if I notice any changes. thanks again!!!

I would be cautious about doing this, since it could very easily lead to an increase in the 'front of body predominance' that already exists in everyday activities, and lead to an imbalance of chest/front shoulder to back/rear shoulder muslces, which can cause havok in the shoulder area (not to mention negative effects on the posture).

If you do push-ups, then I recommend doing some back row exercises as a counterbalance.

I was not suggesting doing push-ups as her only upper body exercise. If you recall, Kathryn, I suggest doing push-ups, chin-ups and dips, not push-ups alone. Or she could do push-ups with her other back exercises from DVD's.

I'm just responding to the "push-ups every day" recommendation. Would you also recommend doing pull-ups or chin-ups every day to balance it?

You can get a pull-up bar really cheap nearly anywhere. You can get one that you can put up and leave up, or get something like a "Door Gym" which you can put up and take down as needed with no hardware. Please consider getting one - pull-ups and chin-ups are worth the effort to learn for strength and appearance sake!
