So my current dishwasher and range are dying a slow fast death. I refuse to buy another Kenmore since they're not even close to what they used to be. DH and I looked at the GE Profile dishwasher and range (dual fuel) today. Wondering if anyone has this line and what you think??? TIA

All our appliances are GE profile, and I've been pleased with them and the service. There was a problem with our freezer, and GE came and replaced the entire door, free of charge, since this was apparently some known glitch. It's been working great since. And we decided to upgrade our oven, because they gave us a hefty discount since we already had a GE product.

We have had GE profile ovens for years. Our old kitchen had a Profile double oven, and we liked it so much that when we remodeled we replaced it with the newer profile double oven. We've been very happy with them.

I love GE stuff...Gas stove and oven and a dryer. Hate the Amana fridge, and OK with the Kenmore we bought for the rental house, but service SUCKED, so I'll never buy Sears again. It's too bad, they were "Where America shopped", but couldn't get a frickin order or delivery right.

Can't go wrong with the GE stuff IHO.;-)

We had a GE Profile gas oven and it actually had an internal electrical fire. When we called the company, we were offered a $75 coupon to buy another one. Even with a class action suit filed on this model, they still weren't standing behind their product. We've since switched to Frigidaire stove and frige and a Maytag dishwasher. We had to go with the Maytag due to under counter space height and there wasn't another model that would fit, but it all worked out as it's the best dishwasher we've ever had, can't even tell when it's running.

We purchased all GE Profile appliances when we built our house 6 years ago. Our cooktop stove and convection over are fine. The microwave is ok too. The dishwasher was replaced last year with a KitchenAid because it broke. The repairman said that my particular model was not good and that he had serviced many. Four years ago the GE Artica refrigerator cracked a water filter and flooded my house and ruined my hardwood floors. Luckily it happened when I was home, the following week we would have been on vacation. I was amazed how much water came out of it in 10 minutes. Nope, I would not purchase GE Profile again. I wanted all of my kitchen appliances to match, right now this is not the case. I will not purchase this brand again. My in laws have had problems with their oven being too hot. Google GE Profile and the models to see if there are problems prior to purchasing them. I know you will find a ton of problems on the GE Artica refrigerator.

HA --- Nancy and Missy, the "slow fast death" is that the pieces parts that break down happen quickly, and usually in groups. Like on the stove, one burner has begun only heating when it feels like it, and right after that another burner decided to only heat high! Ugh -- I know the tempermental parts and can still use the stove, but as the non-working components come in stages over time, this appliance will be done. The dishwasher -- doesn't really dry hot and the secondary soap dispenser doesn't always pop open, again, one seemed to happen right after the other. Still usable, yes, but the end is in sight. This is a 20-year old home, and we've lived here for 7, so I have to think these appliances are probably at least 15 years old. The end is near I think.

Thanks to all who responded on the GE question. Those opinions are very helpful.

I've bought new GE Profiles for my kitchen 5 years ago (microwave, stove, d/w, fridge). The only problem I ever had was the microwave stopped working, but it was under warranty and fixed right away, no charge.

I just bought a 3-month old GE Profile fridge and stove off of Craigslist for our new house - am picking them up today! Yippee!:7

My parents always seem to have bad luck in general with GE. The last house they moved into had all GE profile appliances and one by one they have been replacing them as they break down. So my rule of thumb is stay away from GE. OTOH, we've had Kitchen Aid appliances in our previous and our current house and love them! The only non Kitchen Aid thing we have is a Wolf gas stove and we love it.

I have GE Profile appliances (10YO) that have been fine. We replaced the dishwasher this year due to a recall (with another Profile) and it works fine IF you use the recommended DW detergent. Anything else and it doesn't clean well.

In any case, I've had no problems to speak of. Not sure I'd buy them again cuz of $$$. I tend to shop around (Consumer Reports, etc.) for my appliances anyway.

Love the dishwasher. Like the big fridge and microwave. Hate the electric stove. Very hard to keep clean. My last kitchen aid stove was better because it was grey. This one is black and very very evil. You can see everything on it.
