Good Morning Girls :)

Today was B&G standing glutes and ab ripper X. A good workout. I am wondering if I am getting a good workout for my overall legs, because the premix says "glutes" Do you think that also means my whole leg? I also forgot to add on the calf raises. I will try to do them later. Ab ripper X did not have a fear factor for me today, and I did the bonus mason twists. (can't remember if I did them on Wed. or not) I am looking forward to KB/BC tomorrow!!:)

Gin~ What's on tap today? Running? Did you run with friends? I hope you had a good workout!

Marcy~ Funny you and my DH may have passed each other on the streets of NY and never known it!!LOL I do miss NY, it was fun to pop in, see a show, have a meal, and go home. Now its a major schlep. Our kids have never even been!!!! We plan to try to get there this spring/summer. (although summer is not the best time to go to NY-LOL!) How was legs and back today? I tried ebay to see if I could bid on it, but there were no single dvds listed for P90X. If you want the X, you have to buy the whole thing.

Tracee~ I'm not going to ask if you worked out!;-) Instead, tell us what's up this weekend!!!:) Any basketball games?

Have a great day

Good Morning Ladies!

Today was run with 1 friend and then Core Max1. "Oh, quit your groaning!":) I love it when she says that right before the planks at the very end. Tomorrow is BB's yoga Level 1.
Went to the new dr. yesterday for my 2nd treatment of accupuncture for my headaches. He thinks I have fluid in the back of my neck that is causing the headaches. Hope this works
We had our Christmas program yesterday at school. The kids are so wild. TGIF!!

Tracee--Good to see you again. Maybe just take a break for the rest of the month and plan to re-group with a new attitude in Jan. We still want you to post though!!!!:)

Deanie--I am enjoying this rotation. I like lots of variety and doing workouts I do don't very often. Have you ever done the Timesaver #5 (all leg work)? I looked at it the other day and am curious. She has some exercises that are only used on Timesaver. Enjoy KB/BC tomorrow.

Marcy--Great yoga prctice yesterday. Is it a leg day for you also?

Have a great day all!
Gin:)

Good Afternoon!

Gin~ Fun workout today, coremax 1 is my favorite of the 3.I hope your accupuncture works! Wouldn't that be great~ no meds! I hear you about the kids, I think they know winter break is coming too! I am going to check timesave #5. that is the only workouts of Cathes I've never used. I think we used some pushups from there for the faux X, but otherwise I haven't used them. I didn't get such good results with CTX, so I never the timesaver workouts. I'll let you know, thanks.

Hi DGT!

I came down with a cold last night and got home all achy. I curled up in front of the TV, dozed off and on for a couple of hours and them went up to bed and actually had a pretty good night's sleep. I guess all this lack of sleep is really catching up with me. I got up at 5:30 and went back to sleep. Luckily, DH phoned an hour later and woke me up. Needless to say, there was no Legs & Back workout today.:( I didn't have any energy to do chinups and pullups anyway.

Deanie - Good work on doing the bonus mason twists. My HR really gets up on those. The standing glutes premix seems to have lots of lunges. I'll post what's in Legs & Back and maybe you have something else that might be close to it or you can just do them on your own without a DVD:

One-legged balance lunges on chair - 25
Calf Raise Squats - 25 - squat down and rise up on calves
Super Skaters
Wall Squats - two positions 90 Degrees and slightly above 90 (I think this was for a minute)
Step Back Lunges
Alternating Side Lunge
Single Leg Wall Squats - alternate every 10 seconds
Bent Leg deadlifts
3 way lunge - straight ahead, 45 degrees and to the side (I think it's 8 sets on each side)
Sneaky Lunge - done all on the toes - lunge forward, arms come up in bicep curl, flex them back, bring them in and up; do 2 and then turn around) - I think there are either 20 or 24
Chair Salutations - 2 of them
Toe Roll Iso Lunges
Groucho walk - stay in plie position and walk forward and back (I think this is also for about a minute)
Calf Raises - just like in LIS (3 positions done on the ground - you can use 5# weights if you want)
80/20 Siebers squats - full weight on one foot, back foot only has weight on ball of foot).

Gin - I hate planks too but they're a necessary evil.x( Enjoy yoga tomorrow. Hope the accupuncture works for you.

Tracee - Hope you have a great weekend. Get plenty of rest and hopefully you'll have more energy in the days to come.

Marcy~ I'm sorry you had such a bad time with your cold, but atleast you got a good nights sleep! I hope you are on the mend. Good luck with the dr. appt. tomorrow. It does seem that B&G standing glutes is a good sub for legs, but I just feel I'm not getting a good leg workout. I mostly feel it only in my glutes. I've done some research for a substitution(sp?): I tried: timesaver #5, MM lower body, LL, Legs and Glutes, and 4DS legs. I think these are the top two: Legs and Glutes standing leg work premix (39 min.), or 4DS legs.
This is the L&G workout:

Leg Press (2 sets)
hoover squats
rear lunges with elevated heel-rt leg
plie squats
rear lunges with elevated heel-left leg
plie squats
drop squats on step
explosive plie squats
calf raises
one legged deadlifts
plie squats
sculpting drills on high step
explosive lunges
next 4 excersises with ankle weights:
outer thigh leg press
calf raises
standing leg extensions
standing outer thigh lifts

I think I will do this next Fri. and tack on ab ripper x (of course!:))I am dissappointed I couldn't find just legs and back on ebay, I'm sorry I don't have it!

What do you think? My second choice of a good all over leg workout without doing an hour is the 4DS legs(another favorite)

Deanie

Deanie - I think L&G is the best sub and is more of an overall leg workout. The hover squats could be like the calf raise squats (just use light weights with this). Legs & Back is all light to non-weighted. I guess that's why I like L&G so much. I hate to ask but do you have any other non-Cathe leg workouts? Another good one is Mindy Mylrea's All About Legs if you're ever so inclined to get another non-Cathe workout.

Marcy

Marcy~ Thanks! I'll go with L&G then. I do have some other workouts, Dance to Fitness-the method with Jennifer Kries(its ballet with isolations and jazz dance) and The Ballet Workout Level I (I don't know who teaches it) But I think I will go with L&G. I also really like that one (I like it better than B&G). I am off to Collage to look up Mindy Mylrea (but I prob. won't buy~ I really have to watch my $$!)

Have a great weekend!
Deanie

Deanie - I have the Ballet Workout 2 and the New Ballet Workout. I traded away the first one. Never did it because I thought it would be too easy for me compared to the other ones I had. They're all taught by Melissa Lowe. I find that with ballet, it hits certain muscles you don't normally feel with regular leg workouts. I wish I had the time to do more of them. Alas, too many workouts, so little time!

Have a great weekend!
