full body vs. one body part

Is there a difference in results if I were to do a full body workout 3x a week as opposed to working working each body part once a week. For example:

mon. muscle max
wed. push pull
fri. MIS

as opposed to:

mon. GS back/shoulder/bicep
wed. GS chest/tricep
fri. GS legs

And also, is it okay to with one style or the other for 4 or 5 weeks before switching it up? Does alternating each style weekly slow down results?
