From the mouth of babes...

So I was showing my 8 year old my newest muscle today--the little dent in my shoulder-- because I was so proud, and he said, "Wow... Mommy, you really shouldn't complain about all the pounds you gain because it's probably all of your muscles."

As sweet as it was, I couldn't help but feel just a little sad that he had noticed my body issues. I never thought he was listening when I griped to my DH about a pound here or there... Wrong. So I told him tonight that he was right. I bet it WAS muscle, and it was silly for people to complain about their weight. Now if I can just live up to those words.

Stephanie, That was a great answer. You are on the right track. I have confidence in you that you will live by it.

Stephanie, isn't it amazing what little pitchers hear with their big ears? But what a sweetie pie he is to make that comment. That should help motivate you on your quest for more muscle/less fat.

Stephanie, How bittersweet!
You are raising a kind, caring boy - be very proud of yourself!

Aren't you looking forward to summer with your guys?! I am ACHING to start summer vacation!:cool::cool:

Aw, what a special post Stephanie. So with this awareness comes a happy ending...all good stuff. You're doing great mommy :D

Thanks, ladies!
Kate--Summer already has begun for us!! :) This past Friday was the last day of school. Yesterday was rough. My oldest is trying to figure out how he fits in right now... The other two were home a lot with me (Henry just had preschool twice a week), so they are used to being home. So we're working through some bullying issues. But he totally redeemed himself with those sweet words last night... not to mention smart... How did he know muscle weighs more than fat! :p But, yes, bittersweet, and a good reminder for me to keep my big ole mouth shut when I'm feeling self-conscious. Don't want to pass along any negative body issues! I know you also are looking forward to summer with your sweet girls!! :) How's the baby? (Well, I suppose we have to call them toddlers now ... :()

Robin--Yes, I'm stronger in my resolve now!! :)

Cathe--Thanks for the vote of confidence! :) I weighed heavier this morning, and I was discouraged at first, but then I remembered my little Oliver's sweet words and it snapped me out of it. :) (And thank YOU for being the reason for the muscles in the first place!! :))
