Friday Nov 2...BFL check-in

HPLECTRA

Cathlete
Hi and Good Morning to you,

Have to run shortly to get daughter to the train.

Just getting todays check-in started.

BBL :)

OOOPS! lol We were posting at the same time. USE THIS THREAD, I'll just copy and paste my other post here!

Gayle

Jill-I am SO very sorry about Hero. I really am. A year ago, I wouldn't have understood your feelings, but we got a cat (my first EVER) around Valentine's Day (so we named him Valentine) and NOW I get it. HUGS!

Veronika-I go to bed anywhere between 10 and 11pm. I'm lucky in that I can function on 5 hours sleep. lol It does catch up to me, though, every 2 weeks or so, that's why I LOVE having Free Day AND a Day of Rest on Sunday, so I can recharge for that 4:45am alarm clock on Monday!

Speaking of clocks........remember to turn your BACK this weekend!

OK...today's workout is DONE! I did upper body, and I switched a few things up and WOW!!!!!! My arms are fried! AMAZING what just a change here and there can do. I then did B&G floor/ball work. LOVED IT ALL!

Here's to Day 33!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gayle

ETA: just bumping so we use THIS post instead of the other one!!!

Hi back from my cardio.

Gayle! Wow that is good stuff. I did the iTread interval and I am now sitting in a puddle of sweat. }(
I agree about the lower body feeling left out. I just think that you are right about needing an extra day to even things out.

Later today I am going to get in my upper and abs workout.

Ok Jen...are you ready for that extra cardio kick? I went up on the speed for this one and boy it was really tough. As Grace says Focus is everything. Today is focus on what we can attain and try to reach a little higher.
You mentioned that you had a treadmill and elliptical. I only have the treadmill but like you wish I had a bike too. This would really change things up for me. All in good time I guess.

Jill: As Gayle said...I am sorry to hear about your long time friend Hero. I have always had cats with my DH. We started our relationship with an adopted mixed calico/BobCat. Yes, I mean Bob Cat! Pedley was her name and what an interesting personality. We recently lost one of our sister cats to something the Doc couldn't even figure out. She became paralyed from her shoulder to her paw on the left side. This caused her to have seizures. We tried medicine which helped for a short time but eventually they just came back.
We now only have one cat and she is a Torti. She just about says Mom when she sees me. I guess she learned that one from the kids. We have had her since she was just a few weeks old.
I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you today.

I spent time at my sons Doc Appt. filling out my calendar for the month of Nov. It is really great to just flip to the days workout and know exactly whats on tap. Love this! Thanks for the idea. :)

Veronika: Good for you for getting in your cardio and stretching last night! :)

Colleen: What is your plans for today?

Going to get my shower and go to work. BBL :)

Good morning :) My workout is going to have to wait until this afternoon. I woke up wide awake around 3am and finally got back to sleep after a while and I'm just pooped this morning. But I am motivated and I WILL get my workout done later, even if it's not the entire thing.

Veronika, yes, he's a big boy! We're definitely big dog people. Our smaller dog, Jackson, is 70 pounds.

Heidi, WOW, part bobcat? What an interesting combination! DD would love a cat, but DH and I aren't really cat people so I told her that she could have one when she moves out. She didn't like that ;-)

My snooze button won today so I skipped my morning workout. But I will keep reading this thread for the motviation to get it done tonight.

You all seem to be doing so well, it really is motivating.

This is my first real week back exercising in lord knows how long. I'm doing a few cardio sessions to get myself motivated and will be back on the BFL full bandwagon next week. I'll probably just do 25 minutes of Intense Moves.

I haven't been around in awhile, are any of Cathe's newer workouts interval ones? I still need to get LowMax and Imax 3, but was wondering if anything after that was "bfl-ish" or not.

Jill - has your vet prescribed any medication? we lost our 14 year old lab mix last July due to old age. She was on Metacam and Tramadol for her arthritis and it gave her a lot of comfort the last year or so.

Colleen

Colleen, no he hasn't been given any medication. But it has been just in the past month or so that we've been so concerned. He didn't have any problems walking or getting around or anything like that. Now he's hobbling around...perhaps due to hip displacia (sp?). It doesn't help that he's deteriorating more rapidly because he's hardly eating, not even much of the canned food, which he's always devoured before. He has had quite a few fatty lumps form and last year we had them tested and none tested positive for cancer. But I'm almost positive that he had something deeper that was cancerous and it has spread. He's got a few more lumps than he did before and they don't feel quite as fatty as some of the other lumps.

Good afternoon everyone!

I've been in meetings all day at work and haven't had a chance to check in. I've only had a chance to scan the above.

Heidi, I AM ready for my extra cardio boost! However, I'm giving myself a day off first :D . The kids have friends staying over for the night, so I think I'm not going to worry about getting a workout in and just help them have a good time. So TOMORROW I start anew, and I think I'm going to shake my whole routine up a bit. I've been doing the Pyramids now for four weeks, and I had at least three weeks (maybe four) of Slow and Heavy before that. I really need something fresh. Do you have the Gym Styles? If so, what do you think of them, and do you think I could incorporate them into BFL? I'd really like your opinion on that (and anyone else's). I have the Gym Styles but have not used them yet.

Jill, I'm so sorry to hear about Hero. I'm wishing you and him the best. <3

Colleen, welcome to our group!

Gayle, Veronika, Hello!! Hope you're all doing well! I'll have to catch up with you all later. My lunch break is over.

BBL~

Jen

Hi Jen,

Yes, I do have the GS. I really like these too. The leg workout is going to be felt I guarantee! The first time I did this I couldn't walk with out saying OUCH! Gayle told me about this one and she was right.

I have been alternating between the Pyramids,S&H and GS during this challenge. They all work the muscles slightly different.

Todays workout:

Started with cardio instead of weights because I really wanted to try out the 35min iTread Intervals. This left me dripping sweat and lost 2.5 doing so. (Of course this is water weight from sweating mind you. ;-) )
Later my plan is to do GS Tri&Bi, BM2 Abs (I did the GS chest, shoulders and back on monday)

I think you will like these Jen.

BBL

Well folks, no workout for me this afternoon. I am utterly wiped out due to poor sleep last night. Maybe I'll do LIC tomorrow since it has both cardio and strength in it.

Hi Jill,

It's all right...we all have nights like that occasionally.

You may be a little stressed as well about Hero not doing very well. When ever the kids or (my cat) is sick I feel very weak with worry. I just don't realize how stressed out I was until things are going ok again.

Try to get in early for a good nights rest and come back tomorrow that much stronger. :) We'll be here tomorrow for you too.;-)

Just watching the news...big storm headed my way! Guess I won't be taking that early morning run after all.
We are right on the east coast of Gloucester so we will be getting quite a bit of rain and high winds. Hopefully the wave action won't do too much damage to the low lying houses.
Wish us luck!

Take Care,

Heidi, how close to the beach are you? I saw on the news that the hurricane is moving up towards New England. Take care and let us know how you are.

Hi Jill,

Luckily we are far enough away that we can't get flooded out by way of the ocean. We are above sea level and have an creek inlet about 1/4 mile down the hill. All rain water will bypass our house and head in that direction. We have 2 full cellars both of which have below floor level sump pumps to keep the water out.
The most we have ever had is a little trickle of water across to the pumps after the new addition was built.

The other plus: is having a whole house generator incase of power outages. Believe me when I say we are prepared for the worst!

Thank you all for keeping my Gloucester friends and families in your thoughts. :)

Hi everyone,

I missed everyone on the other thread. How funny. So, now that I'm checking in I had to play catch up. Hey, I got my workout in and did some cardio. I would like to do some stretshing later on when I get the boys down.DH took the other two camping this weekend.Of course, I still have the children that need the most attention.

Heidi, I used to live in the New EnGland Area.Where is Gloucester?I need to turn on the TV and watch the weather.I am so out of things.

I have a question- Is it Ok to alternate leg workouts on leg days instead of only doing PLB? I would like to alternate because it would make it more interesting but I also want to do BFL as true as possible using Cathe's workouts.

Gayle,I really liked your idea of adding on some glute work during the week.I really neeeeeeeeeddddddd it in that area. MY DH as commented that my bum does look smaller. I think he's right but I still would like to work it out specifically. So , when do you add it on? Veronika

Aaaackkk! I just was in the middle of posting and opened up a new window to look something up and ended up closing both instead of just one! Now I have to start over again!

Heidi, I'm glad that you're prepared for any bad weather! I will be watching the weather and thinking of you and your family and friends.

Veronika, when I first started the BFL challenge I was doing Butts & Guts leg blast premix instead of PLB. I can't do heavy weights with lower body because it puts too much strain on my knees. That workout just turns your legs to jello and it is completely awesome!

Hero is doing better tonight. We had some Rimadyl (like ibuprofen for dogs) left over from this summer and it's for Hero's weight, so we gave him one tonight. He perked up and ate an entire can of dog food. Still not enough, but definitely more than he was eating before. We have enough for about a week, but I am going to call the vet on Monday to get some more so he can be comfortable as long as possible. We were watching a movie tonight and he was very enthusiastic with his barking at the sounds on t.v., so that was a great sign.

On another dog note...a silly one...we feed our dogs Purina One lamb & rice formula. When Hero stopped eating the dry dog food, I bought some Beneful, thinking that he might eat that instead. I mixed some in with the other dogfood for our dog Jackson and apparently he doesn't like it. He was eating tonight and dropping mouthfuls of dogfood on the carpet. Then he would go through and pick out the pieces that he did like and eat them. There was dog food EVERYWHERE!!! As soon as I dumped the mixture and gave him some of his other dogfood he ate it all. LOL

Gayle, was it you that said you just got P90X? I've been hearing a lot about it on the open discussion forum and the infomercials have been on a lot lately here. It looks like an awesome set of workouts and I am trying to fight the urge to buy them...especially when I still have other workouts I haven't done!

Tonight I have decided to break down and take a Lunesta to help me sleep. I have been super crabby and irritable all day long and I KNOW it's from poor sleep lately. So I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep and a great workout tomorrow!

have a great night everyone!
