Hi Francine,
I saw through a search of these forums, that you ordered the Slim Series a few months ago. I haven't been able to find a review from you on the results you got. I am wondering if you would share with me (and others :)) your review/opinions of this series.
I ordered the Slim in 6 and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I need something to get me out of a rut I have been in lately. I want to hold off on ordering the SS untill I have tried SLim in 6 and heard your review and opinion.

Thanks for any info you may share!

Becca

Hi Becca:

I ordered the Slim in 6 Series. I have done it a few times, but it is no where near the intensity of any of Cathe's vids. I by-passed the first one right away because it wasn't challenging at all. The second one in the series really isn't much different until you get to the floor work.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad series at all! But, I was hoping for something more like Cathe and silly me - there's NOTHING like Cathe. I do use the vids on off days or ones that I am not feeling very energetic.

It is nice for a change, but not one that I'm "excited" to do like Cathe. There isn't much for music or enthusiasm like Cathe.

Please keep in mind these are strictly MY OPINIONS on that series.

Hope it helps, Marcia. :)

I do not have Slim in 6, but I know a girl who has both, and she told me that Slim Series is alot tougher than Slim in 6. I do like these workouts. They are light weight, high reps, but they are a nice change of pace. I mix them in w/ Cathe.

Oh yes! Slim Series is A LOT harder than Slim in 6. However, they are different. Slim in 6 is more aerobic and targets weight loss, whereas, Slim Series targets toning and is an endurance-based workout which uses the high reps/low weights technique. Both series are fantastic. I have them both and love them. I also have Keep it Up, the follow-up workout (38 minutes long) to Slim in 6. This one is also more aerobic. It is meant to be a maintanance workout after achieving your goals with Slim in 6.

I recommend them highly.

A lot of people have issues with the music and the background exercisers, but those things are petty to me considering how good the choice of exercises are and they don't bother me at all.

Just my opinion (get them both!):p

I "talked" to Francine today via E-mail and I made her aware of this thread. As usual, she has been a busy gal traveling due to the BodyWedge21. She said she'd try to get on tonight after giving her DH a lil attention since she's been gallavanting across the country! I have the SS but I hardly ever reach for them. I may try to work them back in this week since I am STILL dealing with an injury. Grrrr! They seem okay and I feel like they would give results if I could just stick to them. Debbie Siebers is sweet, but her timing and cueing could use a lil' work. The music is just okay. I am just so hooked on my Cathe's but since I am struggling with the injury, I MAY just dig out the SS. I'll let you know what I think more after trying them a few more times. Good Luck with your decision.

Hi Becca
I have both series. They are very easy. The first time you start you might get sore, they are not worth the money however.Remember the old jazzercise days? It will remind you of that. If you want a serious workout, don't bother. I was really disappointed. The slim series is the most difficult however.

I'm curious as to what Francine thinks of these too.
I'm thinking they are a similar concept as the Freestyle training.
They are designed to overtrain your muscles in order to strengthen and define but not build mass. There is legwork (tough) in all of them and you are to do them 5 times a week (one of their rotations).

I've had them for awhile but haven't really done a rotation with them.
I did shape it up yesterday and Firm it up today and my legs are fried!}( I'm going to try to finish out the month and see what happens. I think they are as tough as you make them. I'm really going for it.

I just bought this series, and received them yesterday. I've previewed a couple of the dvds and will do one today. I love Cathe so much, but just thought I'd try something a little different to see if I can shake things up a bit. I hope to have good results with them.

Hey!
I did "Tear it Up" today and was already sore from doing a Cathe weight tape a couple of days ago. It was different in that the reps were much faster and thus I used much lighter weights (3, 5 and 8) but I did sweat a lot and felt like it worked the muscles in a different way. The cardio was not as much as I am used to doing with Cathe. I feel these workouts may be good in addition to what I'm currently doing, but mostly I need to get my eating clean!!! I think that's what really makes any work out "work".
Clean eating is the key. For those of us that don't have those "fantastic fast metabolisms."
I'll keep these workouts and use them as I see fit, but, there's no real benefit to using these workouts over any other if your goal is to lose weight and look more cut! I did the same, with weight watchers and Cathe workouts in 2002. Then gained it back in 2003 due to (or a poor excuse) personal difficulties.
Now that I'm over these great emotional hurdles, or at least coping with them, I'm getting my diet and my workouts back in line. I want so much to fit into all the smaller clothes I wore for a year. And I want to be that sexy woman I really felt like when I was 20 lbs. thinner.

Do you think the Slim Series can do anything more for us than say the BSS1 and BSS2 kits from the FIRM? I've been trying to fight off buying the Slim Series. I keep telling myself that my Firms will probably accomplish the same thing. What do you guys think?

Debbie, I posted on another thread about Francine purchasing Wendilee's workouts. I kind of have the same question....what does she think, are they worth it? I also had an injury about two months ago now, and need to work back into Cathe. I tried once, and can't tell you how pitiful it wasx( I was dying, and the worst part is to see how far I have fallen. Too sad!

I don't know what level Wendilee is, but she sounds interesting.
