For the twenty-somethings....

I'm 19 can I still get in on this?
I had done SJ&P several times until my dad came in and said "Wax on, wax off." All peppy like he knew what it was from. I still didn't get it. He asked me if I knew where that came from. He had to enlighten this poor deprived child! It was from Karate Kid. I've never seen it! Sorry. I did hear the song Kung Fu fighting at a gathering where they were playing oldies. I started doing the steps. I guess my muscles associate the moves to certain songs! Everyone though I was dancing.

I have no clue about those other names you guys are talking about.
When I spent a summer with my oldest sister (31) she tried to educate me on the 80's. She made me watch "Lost Boys" and she got so made when I figured out that they were vamps almost right away. Hello dude the camera went to their point of view when they were flying. Hello...I did take creative writing! Then she made me watch "Better Off Dead" (I think that was it), "Liscens to Drive", "Dirty Dancing", "Grease", and the whole Bond series. He husband introduced me to Billy Idol when we were driving through Yellowstone in their Miata with the top down. Ppl would drive by us and then come back and act like they were rocking out! I wasn't impressed. I do like Reble Yell and I think that was the only song I got excited about.

:9 Ralph Machio was HOT! He was also playing a teenager at age 35! I am 28 and a "Child of the 80's". I experienced all of the stuff from a kid perspective but it was still a huge part of my life. Those in the early 20's might be a bit too young. Soon, only 30-somethings will get the reference!

P.S. Scott Baio was da man!

I don't think it was supposed to be a surprise that the Lost Boys were vampires. But they were pretty vampires, weren't they? Better Off Dead is a great movie. I just love John Cusack! I can't believe they didn't make you watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles. THOSE are the classics of the '80s.

You can get away without The Karate Kid, though. It's just like Rocky, only with a skinny kid and Arnold from Happy Days.

Has anyone ever seen DROP DEAD FRED!!! I love this movie!!

Lost Boys is my all time favorite movie, Heck I even have the sound track...LOLOLOLOL

:) ;-) :p :9 :7 :+

But now when I see David Lee Roth,
>I'm like...."Dude! Your nose is as big as a buick!" And his
>personality...please! He's a real jerk.

Plus, you probably never thought there could never be a combover worse than Donald Trump's either!

That soundrack is nothing to laugh at...it's awesome! I love that song "I Still Believe". And then there's the INXS song that plays when the really hot dark-haired vampire falls into the stereo and gets electricuted. I used to have the soundrack on cassette. I should get it on CD. Wonder if I can pick it up at Half.com....

Donna,

I would love to burn you a copy of that DVD, I have it and I love that song "Still Believe" I like to lift weights to that song, it always inspires me to go harder and longer..

I am so happy to find someone else who loves that LOST BOYS sound track!!! Yeah!!!

I also love the song "holding out for a hero" by Bonnie Tyler( I think) That one makes me go all out CRAZY to hi/lo..LOL

I have SO much workout music it is insane

:) ;-) :D :p :9 :7 :+

Lost Boys! I can't tell you how many times I've seen that movie! I have it on VHS (will have to replace with DVD someday soon, though!). I also have the soundtrack -- and, again, I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it! I used to do dance aerobics at home and would use many of the songs on this soundtrack to dance to.

We have a local high school radio station that will occasionally play that song "I Still Believe", too. I was shocked the first time I heard them play it! Hey, did you know the guy who sings that song used to play the saxophone and keyboards for Tina Turner? He would set keyboards up on either side of his body and play them both simultaneously. He was pretty buff, too...made that saxophone look tiny in comparison.

And "Better off Dead"! What a fabulous 80's classic! "I want my $2.00" Ha ha ha! :7

Oh, but I digress...we were talking about Macchio, weren't we?

I'm 26 and i understand. Saw that movie alot when i was growing up!!! Thought Elizabeth Shoe was the prettist thing i'd ever saw!

okay...I watched The Karate Kid so many times that I know it like the back of my hand to this day. I didn't see this corrected anywhere, BUT....It's Daniel LA Russo. Can't forget the "La"

I still love all 80's movies, music, TV etc. I was so in love with Jason Patrick and thought Jamie Gertz was lucky. Oh and Less Than Zero was another good one, with her and Robert Downey Jr. and Andrew McCarthy. Which reminds me of St. Elmos Fire and Rob Lowe. I could really go on but should probably do some workx(

A copy of the CD or the DVD? You can't burn copies of DVD's can you? I thought there was some sort of scrambling that prevents that.

I'd love a copy of the CD, though!

I loved Jason Patrick mostly because I was in love with Jim Morrison. I once dated a guy solely because he looked like Jim MOrrison. Then he farted in front of me and the romance was gone....

OF course, I'm sure Jim Morrison would have done a lot worse things.

I'm smiling big time! I just sent you my address. I thought about publishing it right here on the forum, but was afraid everyone would be overwhelmed with the need to send me gifts. ha ha

Yup, Jim Morrison is a hottie and Val Kilmer who was quite hot once played him in the movie, "The Doors". I just goo goo over Val's lips.
BTW, Ralph Macchio looked alot like my brother so I never had a crush on dear Ralphy...EEEWWW, but I did like Scott Baio. Scott still looks pretty darn good even now.
Charlotte~~

My brother joined karate when he was 4 because of the karate kid! Yes I have seen all 4 karate kid movies. And the Lost Boys, I love that movie to this day. I still think that Corey Hamm was the hottest kid back in the day too. Oh what a crush I had on him...
I also had the soundtrack on videocassette!
I own the Breakfast Club on dvd, same with the Princess Bride. I really have to get the Lost Boys. Hey, my birthday is in 6 days, Maybe I should ask dh for that!

Kathy

I haven't seen the other movies you guys brought up either! I'm must be really uneducated in the classic movie department!

Kathy- We were at the vid store 2 weeks ago and my mom brought up "Princess Bride". I'd never seen it so I was like "Naw lets get something adventurous." My dad smirked and looked at me like Oh No You Didn't! He then asked me if I had seen it. "No. It doesn't seem like something that would stimulate my intellect". My response caught everyone who was in line and looking at movies (its a small store)attention. I felt very uncomfortable and put the movie on the counter and paid for it. I never got around to watching it b4 we had to take it back. lol. So I still haven't seen it. Now that you have indorsed it, I might put it on my list of must sees.

~Reece Out~

Oh Reece, Reece, Reece...you poor unenlightened girl. Princess Bride is extremely mentally stimulating. It's not for the dumb people out there. It's a very sweet love story, but it's also incredibly funny and the sword fights are fantastic. You MUST go back and rent it. Or better yet, buy the DVD for your collection.
