foot pain

Lots of stretching of both the calf and lower arch area of the foot. You can find a lot of good stretches online. Lose weight if you need too; every extra pound of weight adds a great deal more pressure on the foot. And last, never wear "flats." They are bad for your situation. Generally wear shoes that have a bit of a heel - for example 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches high. Unfortunately running is not such a great exercise for people with plantar fascitis, but if you are hooked on running I would try connecting with other runners on this subject. If you are not hooked on running, alternative aerobic workouts like elliptical machines or swimming can give your foot a break. You may need to take a break from step workouts as well for a while. I sympathize, I have been dealing with this myself.

Ditto the above suggestions. I've had PF for over a year and decided that I would try to lose weight and see if that helps before seeing a doctor, because the first thing the doctor would say is...I need to lose weight. Well, I don't need to pay someone to tell me that!

I wear shoes around the house (for me, Crocs are a godsend) and stretch before getting out of bed. But just as I thought, weight loss has made the biggest difference. It is much, much better. I'm sure once I reach my goal weight it will be gone altogether.

Try Crocs. I could be a saleswoman for them! They are the only shoes I wear and it really helped my husband's PF.
