Fruit,Skim Milk...Non fat dairy products,must be labled "fat free""Skim"or 1% Low fat..... NON fat cottage cheese .... Chicken breast- turkey.... Egg whites ,The leanest protien out there.Fish.lean red meats ...Oat meal... Yams and sweet potatoes.Red or white potatoes(dry) ...Brown rice..100% whole wheat bread. Green veggies.
 
Also all different color veggies and fruits in moderation, so you'll get your full supply of all vitamins, minerals, and cancer fighters. Also your body will be able to break stuff down better and more efficiently. This is where I generally see people having the most trouble with their diet. They eat what they favorite rather then a whole array of colors. Each color has different amounts of vitamins as well as special ones that you can only get with the certain color.

Don't forget to add pulses, for iron, protein and fibre, and nuts, for healthy fats and protein.

I disagree that you need to always go for non-fat dairy. Non-fat dairy is a complete waste of time ad money since it has no taste. All you do is use the regular dairy but use less of it. Portion control.

THe whole egg is a better nutritional bargain that simply egg whites. You have to think carefully about the "fat loss" versus good nutrition balance.
