else have a hard time turning down 'regular' candy? I'm talking about sprees, hot tamales, mentos, or sweetarts. I have such a hard time not eating these and I know they are just empty calories. Help!!x( x(

I normally don't look for that but when I AM occassionally in the mood for it, I have been known to go overboard and eat too much of it at once!;(

Have a great work out!

I have become a complete chocolate snob since I moved to north Jersey. There are just too many gourmet bakeries around here for me to even consider packaged candy. :9

I don't buy candy very often, but when I do I really like Dove Chocolate. Hot Tamales are really good too.

surprisingly... i don't! of course.. i don't buy it either.. but even in the store.. i have no desire to buy it! i did eat a sampler box of chocolate (5 pieces) a few months ago and it took me 5 days to eat it! i got it as a going away gift from my former boss's wife (they were leaving and she gave gifts! such a sweethear!) anyways.. the gift bag included a tiny box of godiva chocolate... i know how good it is so i told hubby.. hand's off! lol!

for christmas i just didn't buy any and i don't plan to buy any for easter either (i used to LOVE cadbury mini eggs!)

i have really strong willpower when it comes to eating (and exercising) to the point of being anal (i'm sure that doesn't surprise most of you! ;) )

I can initally turn it down, but I know if I have one, just one, it's really difficult to stop just there.

thank wendy... by the way... i do have a couple of vices.. i'm not always a perfect eater: i have to have popcorn at the movies.. and i DO get butter layered on it! and i LOVE ice cream.. (but i buy the no sugar added fat free or 98% fat free kind! but i eat bigger portions of it than i would it it were "real!") and i love love love love the breadsticks at pat & oscar's (socal restaurant) so i'm anal.. but not perfect! lol!

When it comes to chocolate, candy, cookies or anything sweet and nasty my brain goes into autopilot with someone else at the wheel! How does the saying go? None is not enough but 1 is 1000 too many?

I wrote up what I thought was an interseting insight to this at the bottom of this thread (seems that sometimes my posts are thread killers :-( ) :

It's about what a powerful training tool food treats are with animals. It's about instant gratification vs deferred gratification. Eat the chocolate now vs health and beauty later. It takes LOTS of no power for the later choice to win for me.

Luckily, I was born without a sweet tooth. None of this stuff even appeals to me. I have been known to have the "eyes" tell me that piece of chocolate looks mighty good, take one bite and spit it out. Yuck!! Don't even like the taste of it!
The other thing that helped is I went on a serious "clean" diet rampage a while ago and got that so out of my system that it no longer appeals to me. I don't eat it because I know I'll get a stomach ache later.
When moments of weakness present I just think about the ramification of my actions and that stops me. I must admit though, I'm pretty good about not giving in to any sort of temptation.

i did that... "de-toxified" myself of sugar and junk... AND caffeine! *gasp*.. all at once! it hurt (literally... like dt's almost i would think) for a couple of days.. but it's been worth it over time!

however it wasn't easy and "I" needed to be the one to decide to do it.. noone telling me would have given me the willpower or stick-to-it-ness.. noone but ME! and i still don't know what, at that point in my life made me do it.... (no sickness in me or my family.. just something i did!)

I can't keep sweet stuff in the house at all. Once I have a taste of something (preferably a combination of chocolate and peanut butter) there's no stopping me.

What is really killing me right now is that my semi-SO bought me a dozen cadbury mini creme eggs. He gives me one a night because I told him to hide them where I can never find them. The problem: I DON'T WANT THEM!!!! Not even one. I've been eating so clean lately that they are disgustingly sweet. But his feelings would be hurt if I didn't partake. Sigh. Eight more of them to go. :-(

Looove Good'n Plenty. Luckily, they're often stale at the point of purchase, so temptation is fairly easily overcome, but oooohh, when they're fresh watch out:9

Fortunately, I don't really care for the taste of candy, unless it has chocolate in it (without nuts...I hate nuts). The only exception to the candy is Candy Corn; and I LOVE cadbury eggs. I have to really stay away from those this year.
