Fluidity bar for P90 pullups?

Cathlete
I just received my Fluidity bar yesterday and doing their version of pullups with the bar made me wonder if I could also use the bar effectively for the pullups in P90X. I don't really have a spot to install an actual pullup bar in my house and definitely have no room for a power tower, so currently, I use the bands. But I worry that I'm not getting the full benefit I would with pullups. I have toyed with the idea of purchasing one of those over-the-door pullup bars that fit over the moulding on the door frame, but I'm afraid of doing damage. Fluidity users, do you have any thoughts?

Any other suggestions re: pullup bars would be most welcome! I would especially love to know if anyone has one of the ones that temporarily go over the door. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Well, I personally found Fluidity a little awkward for pullups, but I'm somewhat tall, so that may be why. I went for the pull-up bar that you attach to your door frame and a set of Iron Woodys (love love love my Iron Woodys).

I have read of other people having success with the Fluidity bar for pullups, but I didn't feel like I got the full range of motion so didn't feel like I was getting the full benefit.

Sorry that's not more help!

Marie

PS: But who cares, Fluidity is still awesome! :p

Do you have a treadmill at home? If so, I can tell you a way I just learned how to do them lying on the treadmill and using the rails......which is the only way I can do them right now.

I would totally use the fluidity bar for pullups, in fact, I had not thought of this before!!!:) Thanks for the tip!!
Just raise the bar high enough that you get the biggest range of motion you can. I bought the over the door pullup bar, but it does not work on our doors, and that was where my sweetie DH drew the line, he did not want any damage either!!

PS I am enjoying my bar and the workouts, I am doing it about twice a week along with Cathe's '05 Rock Bottoms rotation!:)

Hi Cathy,

I have the Door Gym and have been using it for pullups in the P90X rotation. At first I couldn't even to one pullup, but I am getting better. The Door Gym doesn't damage the door frame or the wall. Good luck finding something that works for you.
