Flooring

Hi. I used to workout in my unfinished basement with puzzle mats. I am now working out upstairs in a carpeted room. I tried the puzzle mars over the carpet but was not happy with that so I am justing going with the carpet for now. I'd like to put some sort of flooring over the carpet to help with my knees, but also to be able to move more freely while working out. Does anyone have any good suggestions on flooring? I would like something that could go right over the carpet. Thanks for your suggestions.

over carpet it might be; actually you may want to look into actual aerobic flooring - GreatMats.com... they have a great selection. Personally I like my puzzle mats which I bought from there but they do have the typical aerobic flooring. I just don't know if it can be applied over carpet but I am not an expert floor layer:)

I went with the "Home Sport and Play" (7/8 inch) puzzle mats; it's in my basement on top of tile so to keep them in place I laid down a few long strips of cabinet liner (that tacky-texture material).
It works great for me; absorbs shock well and I don't slip on my sweat. There are just a couple spin-turn steps that are not comfortable since it's not an actual aerobic floor but I just do a step-turn instead and I'm good to go:)

Thanks. Great site with lots of options. Has anti e used the cushion mats? I would love to hear some feedback on those.
