floor surfaces

I've been working out on carpet and will be moving to a place that mostly has tile flooring. Is tile an ok surface to work out on, especially with high impact moves? I'd really like to take care of my knees. I was thinking of creating a "parquet-mat" where I lay out several parquet squares and then laying this "mat" out each time I workout. I don't know if this makes sense. Thoughts and ideas please!

Personally, I wouldn't work out on a tile floor. If I were you, I'd get some puzzle mats for the floors. They're easy to pick up and put out, so it may be just as easy as parquet. There are a bunch of posts about cardio flooring, with other things people have done.
Good luck!
