FLAX SEED OIL/ TIMING

Is there any magic time during the day that might be more beneficial? I have been taking one tablespoon daily, at all different times.
Does it matter? Before a workout? After? Last nite I took it before I went to bed.
I do like what its done for my digestive system, altho I have only been taking it for about 3 weeks.
I have yet to see to benefits to my skin, which I have read is a pleasant side effect.
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance:)

I usually take mine first thing in the morning in liquid (cranberry juice or grapefruit juice), and then I don't eat anything for about 40 minutes. And/or, last thing at night a couple of hours after my last meal.

I find if I add mine to solid food, I get terrible.... uhm ...tummy problems.

Hope that helps,
Liz

I take a total of 2 tablespoons per day; one in my breakfast smoothy and then one with dinner (usually sprinkled on my salad). Flax seed oil is a wonderful thing. It has completely removed all physical symptoms of indicators that the period is coming. I used to get sore breasts prior to my period arriving; no more aches and pains with the flax seed oil! It's great for this and I believe it helps the skin and the hair.

Hi All,

I am also interested in taking flax seed, but I'm not sure which is the best form to take, the oil, or the pills? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind to purchase and where? Does it taste gross?

Thanks!

The best form to take is the oil. Be sure to get a brand that has the lignans in it for added benefits. Straight flax seed oil tastes nutty to me. I have found that Barlean's Omega Twin Lignan (flax seed oil plus borage oil) is excellent (and, doesn't taste as strong). There are womens formulas available from several vendors (for example, Health From the Sun and Barleans brands) that offer flax seed oil plus either evening primrose oil or black currant oil (or combination of both).
Hope this helps.

Actually, from a health point of view, "they" say the best form of flax is buying it in seed form and grinding up the amount you'll be using just before use. The gound seed has added health benefits (cancer, cardiovascular, etc).

I sure wouldn't drink it alone :) I make a salad dressing: 2 tbsp flax, 1 tbsp balasmic vinegar, spicy mustard and lots of seasoning.

I wouldn't get the pills because you have to take about 15 to equal 1 tbsp of flax. The cost gets pretty high that way.

What the ground seeds have that the oil doesn't is fiber. There may also be some additional nutritional elements, but I think it's just the fiber.
