Fitness Magazines...choices, choices

I can get some free magazine subs through frequent flier miles my DH has, none of them would be my first choice but wondered what others on the forum thought of the choices I have....since they are free....

- Muscle and Fitness (the male one)
- Fitness
- Prevention
- Shape
- Self (is this fitness?)
- Organic Style

Thanks in advance.

If I were filling out the subscription forms, I'd get Fitness and Prevention. Shape (I believe this and Muscle & Fitness Men are Weider publications) is too much fluff, Self has fitness and diet tips in it but it leans more toward "glamour" IMO. Organic Style is good if your interested in improving your diet with whole foods. Some are loaded w/ more advertising than information. I'd check out your choices on the newstand and see which appeal to you most. Since they're free you've got nothing to lose. I love magazines! My current favs are Oxygen, Women's Health, Fitness Rx and Prevention.

I agree with Kim, get all of the ones that you're thinking about and read them. Also you might check your local library, they might have back issues so you could easier see what a magazine leans towards. Or if you have a Half Price Books store in your area they have a lot of used magazines.

Not on your list, but I like Health magazine it covers fitness, diet and mental (de-stressing) health.

Good luck!

Another fan of Health magazine here! In the past I have gotten Fitness, Self, Shape, Oxygen, M&F Hers, Health and Fit. I dropped a few last year an this year I dropped everything except for Health. The rest of these seem to have the same information over and over and over again in a different format w/different models. I decided to take a break for a while stick to Health.

That said, out of the above mags, I liked Fitness (I had a subscription for about 13 years) and Prevention is a pretty good one too.
