Fitness magazine recommendations

Does anyone have any advice on what Fitness magazine is the best out there? There are SO many - what do you recommend for reading up on the latest trends (to share w/ my clients)?? Thanks!!

I used to like Oxygen. However, the only one that I'll actually pay for now is the CrossFit Journal. Below is a link to the site for it. There are more than a few articles that you can view for free as well as a free intro edition.

I read oxygen and fitness mainly for exercise ideas. I also subscribe to the CrossFit Journal.

I personally like Muscle and Fitness hers. Lately, Oxygen has become one big advertisement for Tosca Reno.

I also pick up Fitness Rx, I like their section that has little tidbits of fitness info. Plus I met the couple who started this publication years ago at a trade show, they are very nice people!

Fitness and Shape just don't cut it for me.:) The models are reed thin and doing exercises I wouldn't ever do, I am more of a "traditional" type gal.;)

I think my fav would have to be Women's Fitness. They always have some really great articles.

Oooooh some tough ones from which to choose! Thanks...I did just now order the crossfit one! I want to get certified thru them but they are SO expensive!!!

Clarrisa,

Have you read 'OnFitness'? It's a great magazine that targets PT's.
Great reading for everyone, too.

It's the only magazine I will subscribe to cause it's a tad hard to find around here.

I second the recommendation for "On Fitness."

It contains nothing but substance, great information, backed up by scientific research. No ads for expensive supplements. No busty models falling out of their "sports bras," if you can call them that. No multi-page spreads used as "fillers" to make it seem more substantial than it is.

I learn loads from every issue. Your clients could too.

I regularly read SHAPE, FITNESS, and OXYGEN (agree about it being a big Tosca ad). Never heard of CROSSFIT but I'll look for it. I especially love magazines which feature before/after articles sent in by readers who've made dramatic changes to their bodies/health. Very inspiring.

I unfortunately subscribed to Fitness, and I would NOT recommend it. It just re hashes the same old stuff you already know. It would be a good place to start if you were just beginning exercise. But, as you are a PT--you are way beyond this mag.
