Fit TV and DVD's

Hi,

I just want to say that I love your dvd's, but I have been a little annoyed lately and thought I should voice my concern.

About two months ago, I bought some dvd's from you including Rythmic Step and Pyramids and a couple others. I spent well over $100.00.

Well how surprised was I when I turned on the tv and saw Rythmic Step, the same tape being played for free on TV. I was annoyed. I just spent $50 dollars on it.

I think that its unfair that we pay for these tapes and other people can get them for free.

Don't they have commercial breaks and also only parts of the workout, not the workout in full?

They do have commercial breaks and not in very convenient spots. The fittv version is tough to follow - particularly the cardio/step workouts where they go to a commercial right in the middle of a routine! I found I wanted the DVD's after seeing the workouts on fit Tv.;)

When I sold all my vhs tapes, a number of people who purchased them were buying them because they got "a taste" of Cathe but were frustrated that the whole workout is not included and there are a number of commercials. They could not wait to get the tape and to the "real thing"....so don't feel too badly:)

I have paid just as much and received less in terms of quality, and overall workout, and just put Cathe into my category of "you get what you pay for":)

Well since you mentioned it....I was excited when I found out Cathe would be appearing on Fittv. I thought it would give me a good chance to see her older videos, ones that I didn't own yet. Well that wasn't quite the case, the only video that has been shown that I didn't own was Rythmic Step. All the rest were her more recent videos. That didn't bother me until they showed the Body Blasts which we paid a lot of $$ for and just received maybe 6 months ago? That DID bother me a LITTLE bit even though as someone said there are one or two exercises cut out and commercials. I was just wondering the same thing about these new videos that we are about to receive. Oh well, I guess it doesn't bother me that much since I will continue to order Cathe's videos I'm sure :).

Although I don't get Fit-TV (or any cable, for that matter, dinosaur that I am), I think comparing a TV airing of a Cathe workout to the DVD on which it is printed is a little short-sighted. Especially with the more recent years' offerings, the chaptering and premixes of the DVDs are such that your customizing options are greatly expanded, whereas with the Fit-TV airings you get only the workout as originally filmed, at a time of day or night that may or may not be convenient for you, replete with commercials (I imagine me getting hit with a commercial during a workout and going for my Glock-9).

If a movie that was out on DVD (replete with all its bonus features)then came out on HBO or even lowly broadcast, my guess is the price would stay the same for the DVD. It should be no different for exercise DVD's.

I agree with Aquajock. I have Fittv and I got the whole Bootcamp on dvd instead of 2/3 of it on Fittv. I hate commercial interruptions and am unable to work out at 8 am. I also discovered what I didn't want to purchase. I don't think Fittv can compare to the quality of her dvd's. I am hoping though that she does lower her vhs prices, because there are a couple I would like to purchase separately.:D

I've recorded and done the FitTV workouts (for previewing purposes) and now own almost all of Cathe's DVDs, and I can tell you from first-hand experience that there are a number of differences between the DVDs and the FitTV workouts. First, the FitTV versions are not complete. For example, Rhythmic Step from FitTV is missing part of the final step segment and the Rhythmic Step Challenge. Second, most of Cathe's DVDs include several workouts, some of which are not available on FitTV. Again, take Rhythmic Step: that DVD includes IMAX and MIC, neither of which have been aired on FitTV (at least not in my area). Finally, you don't get the awesome chaptering and premixes Cathe characteristic of Cathe's (newer) DVDs. W/ these options, you have virtually unlimited possibilities for mixing and matching workouts. Once you learn the routines for the DVDs you purchased, you will really appreciate having these capabilites, though one side effect is total disappointment w/ the production quality and features of other exercise DVDs. :)

I can understand your frustration upon discovering that you paid so much for something that you think you might have been able to obtain for free. But, once you've had a chance to compare your DVDs to the FitTV workouts, I think you'll find that your money was well spent. You may even find yourself recording the FitTV workouts for preview purposes and then purchasing the DVD version of the same (but improved) version of the workout. That's what I did, so I actually think airing the workouts is a great marketing tool.

Seeing some of the workouts on FitTV helped me decide which to purchase next. I wouldn't want to record with the commercials plus the actual DVDs have the great premixes and other programming options.

Hey Jamie, I hope you are encouraged!! It seems everyone agrees that your money was well placed with purchases of the originals;)

I don't get fit tv, but even if I did, I cannot imagine that it is as good as Cathe's dvds. I just bought my first dvds and I believe they are worth every penny. I love the clarity--visual and sound. I love that I don't have to fast forward or rewind. I love the premixes. I wish I had the money to change all my Cathe videos to dvd right now. Buying the dvds gives one a lot more than a tv program, I think, but if it bothers you, don't buy anymore workouts and just use fit tv. Cathe puts out a fantastic product and I'm willing to plunk down as much $ as I can for it.

take care
Maggie
