I really just want to say that I love you guys. I learn so much from all of you, and as a bonus you all are so darn nice to "chat" with. I wish I checked on here sooner to see all of the advice for me, as well as your "contraception" discussion.
Shopaholic, I like your ideas of special toys and songs/talks with Max while I feed the baby. It didn't even occur to me that I should be engaging him while I nurse! I really do hope he loves the new baby. He is such a good boy.
Briee, Your experience with your second delivery really gives me hope! I pray that somehow this second birth will "correct" what is wrong from before. I had no idea that you went through that, thanks for sharing with me. I am definitely going to try a water birth, at least spend time in the birth tub during labor before delivery. Also, I am currently seeing a homebirth midwife, and if all continues well, baby no. 2 will be born at home. I am so excited! The thought of not having to go to the stark and uncomfortable hospital is so comforting (and our hospital was new "with all the latest bells and whistles" - still didn't make it any more enjoyable).
Maggie, I hope Max loves too much also. Hearing how your kids were/are with the babies makes me excited to see Max welcome his new bro/sis and for him to get to be a big brother. It will definitely bring out a new side of Max, but I think that will be good!
Autumn, I love that you are so full of good information and so willing to share. You seem to love what you do and really fully inform yourself so that you can present to your students more than they would otherwise get. Good for you! I also hope your shoulder heals soon!
Also, Briee, thanks for sharing your experiences with Illinois and Wisconsin. I wonder where my state would fit into all that. In general, families around here have a lot of kids, so if the ob/gyns, nurses, etc, started commenting about needing birth control, I think they would end up losing their job due to complaints. I have encountered some pressure to vaccinate Max, but I've found that avoiding the well baby visits solves that. I mean they are so frequent , it seems, only because of the vaccination schedule set up. I trust my maternal instinct to know when I need to take Max to a doctor.
A side thought when Maggie and others mentioned that natural forms of birth control are never discussed... I wonder if drug companies have a hand in this. Honestly, anytime doctors approach a "solution" from a natural perspective, the drug companies are not going to be earning any money. I mean they sell the condoms, birth control, etc. I wonder just how much influence drug companies have over most doctors...
