Fit for Xmas-12/15

Good Morning everyone,

I can't believe that Christmas is 10 days away! Where has all the time gone? I'm starting to have some anxiety about getting everything done that I want to get done and still maintaining my workout schedule. So far, the workout schedule is winning:) .

Yesterday I did Mindy Mylrea's Pump Party (the second workout on the Extreme Intervals tape). It was okay. She did a lot of the work with a body bar so I thought I could substitute my barbell. WRONG!!! It may have worked if I lighted it up considerably but then I'm not sure I would have gotten any real benefit from the routine. It was difficult with the barbell because some of the moves were a little fast paced and the barbell seemed too heavy and some of the compound upper and lower body moves proved impossible with the 30# I had on the bar. I think next time I will substitute dumbbells (probably 10's or 8's) and accept this as more of a high rep/low weight workout than what I'm used to with Cathe. The upper body work was good though. The abs were good and way to short so I added an extra 10 minute workout from Quick Fix Abs.

Today was Christi Taylor's Still Steppin' and it was sooo much fun! And what a workout! This workout is not as tough choreography wise as Cathe so I was able to nail it with just my second time doing it. I have to say I'm really enjoying Christi right now and am thinking of going on a Christi Taylor buying binge just so I can rotate her stuff in more often. BTW, Brenda, Totally Hot Cardio clocks in at 48 minutes, but the DVD has some bonuses like an extra warm up, cardio section, and abs section which could make it closer to an hour.

Rest of the week looks something like this...
Tuesday- Cathe Cardio and Weights. Just love this one. I'm so excited to do it.
Wednesday- Pure Strength Legs and Abs.
Thursday- Day off???? I have the question marks because I may have to take Sunday off and am wondering if I could sub something in to keep it to 6 days this week.
Friday- Firm BSS2 Cardio and Weights plus Abs (to sub for Circuit Max)
Saturday-Karen Voight Cardio Strength (to sub for Boot Camp) or day off
Sunday- if I take Thursday off, move Saturday's workout here and do some cardio on Saturday, or off.

Whew! That sounds confusing! I'll make it work. And it wouldn't be the end of the world if I only got in 5 days this week.

Happy Monday everyone!

Hey everyone, can housework be considered a low-impact workout? I wasn't able to work out last Saturday as I had chores galore. I cleaned the house top to bottom while I did three loads of laundry. Took about 4 hours. Had a Zone bar with lots of milk afterwards.

Yesterday was PUB without the ab work. Was too tired to complete the workout. This morning was PLB with the floor work in PS Legs. I'm now using 5 more pounds than Cathe for the PLB squats, plie squats and deadlifts. As thrilled as I am with the strength I've gained, I'm afraid that my lower body will gain bulk. That's the last thing I need.:)

Sabine, I also love Cardio & Weights. I do the step timesaver premix though. It's just the right amount of cardio for me. Is anyone doing BB-based rotations? I've viewed KPC, LG, P/P and Supersets, and wow! Those stability ball exercises look tough. I'm looking forward to doing the BB workouts after New Year.

Brenda, I finally had some wine as you suggested. Half a bottle Saturday evening. It's Monday morning and I am still bloated! I ate chocolates with it. But it was good:9 so no regrets.:) Maybe this will prompt me to do more cardio this week...

Have a great week everybody,
Pinky

Hi all,
Its nice to read what everyone is doing. Sabine you are so upbeat. And Pinky, using more weight than Cathe on PLB!!

Saturday I tried the upper body blast premix for supersets and it fried me. I went quite heavy. Sunday I did KPC - I did a respectable job - then I did Yoga for Athletes (I'm on a quest for a more flexible bod) OH I just wore myself out with these workouts. Had to have a nap on Sunday.

Today I decided to try the lower body blast premix for supersets. Only 33 minutes but not fun. It was squats, deadlifts, plie squats, one legged squats, repeat, repeat. I felt it, but all that squating is boring and I don't think it does me that much good.

Don't know what I'll do tomorrow - I think I may do Christie's solid gold cardio..

I have a question about stretching. Can it really make you sore like DOMS? I have some spots on my bod that are crying....

have a great day!

Hi everyone,
Today was 10-10-10 which I never got to yesterday. Took out the triceps and did Push/Pull instead...

Pinky, housecleaning has to count as excercise- there are times I feel like I'm moving up and down the stairs and lifting, bending, etc for hours non-stop! Yes is my vote. Good for you having a little wine- it is the holidays after all!

I'm going to check out Christy's workouts - I assume she has a website? Joy, I'm not sure if stretching is supposed to make you sore. I thought it was to be relaxing but I have no idea. Sore like pulled muscle sore or just a little uncomfortable? Hmmm...

Going to be a long night- my 2 1/2 yr old has the flu and is so sick.
I'll plan what to do tomorrow when I get up.

Hope everyone has a great night.

I have a really wierd question but thought I'd ask all of you-
my dog licks my weights- he'll do it for hours if I let him. Does anyone elses pets ever do this? Why? Is it the metallic taste or that its cold? It only really bothers me when he's licking dumbbells that I'm about to pick up. Gross.

I didn't work out today but yesterday I did SPC. What an awesome workout. This is the first time I did it and loved it. Tomorow I will do Pushpull. Hope everyone has a great night

Well, I was lazy all weekend, and did not work out at all. I started JillyBean's Premix Rotation today just because I like the premixes better than the actual tapes themselves!!! I did the 82 min. KPC/LG premix, and it was a killer. I am glad I did it, feeling very BLAH, and woe-is-me lately. I will feel better in a couple of days.

Hi everyone,

This week is that wonderful TOM and I don't feel like working out heavy and hard so I am taking this week and doing Charlene Pricketts cardio tapes and Margaret Richards weight tapes.

As I age I guess the TOM is hitting me harder and harder. I just feel so tired and lazy but know I have to do something so these 30 minute workouts fit the bill. I know they are not nearly as hard as Cathe but I am listening to my body and taking this week as a lighter week. So my week is looking like this:

Monday was CP Oxygen in Calories Out
Tuesday CP Stand Right Up (or something like that) and hopefully MR
weights this evening
Wednesday planning on a longer CP cardio. going to the Red Wings
game in the evening so I won't be able to another workout in.
Thursday CP cardio, MR weights
Friday CP cardio, MR weights
Saturday depending on how I feel may be Boot Camp but will decide when the time comes.

Hope everyone is having a good week so far. GO RED WINGS!!!!

Rhonda- You and I are in the same boat, EXCEPT, I let myself feel fat and be lazy. I kept telling myself to just do some Firms, they are easier, it is better than nothing, but I didn't do it. I really thought about it over the weekend, about my working out, and I am the type that if I don't have time to do it before I shower, I don't want to do it at night. There are many people on here who work out later in the day, so yesterday, I did not do it in the morning, and I came home last night, and did the KPC/LG, 82 min. premix. I have tyo commit to one hour of working out, 6 days a week. I used to work out of the home, and worked out consistently, and now I am more of a loafer to working out. I just turned 40, and the older I get, the more hard it is for me to have a period. It seems like now my body would just spit those babies out, but it does not!!!!
