Fit & Fab 40s

Quick post as time is getting away from me today! I did the fitness test program on the treadmill. I must not understand it, I thought it would score me based on my age and HR. I got a 100, hmmm, I know I'm not in that good of shape! I did a mile in less than 10 min and warm up/cool down was another .5 mile. Then I did 4DS KB only. I did not do all the jumping jacks as I was tired, so did a low impact version.

Had a scare with Maddy, not sure what it was, she's been eating so well, and after our walk, I told her she had to wait to eat until I did (I still haven't eaten) she kind of stumbled and had a weird look, I scooped her up because I was scared she'd hurt herself running into something, a few min later, I set her down, she seemed 'ok', figured I better feed her as maybe her blood sugar was low, she stumbled a bit into a chair on the way to the kitchen but she gobbled her food all up and is resting comfortably now. I think she's fine, but it worries me what's next to come for us.

Ronne, yes, go light on the weights for Plyo legs!

Mary, I love bread/butter too, and chocolate. Right now I'm in a yogurt covered almond kick...somehow I'm betting the yogurt covering has too much sugar!

Murphy, hope you get better soon!

Kathryn, part of my problem with high intensity workouts is knowing when to slow down, I'm always in competition to not slow down. Then I end up killing myself. And yes, I've been feeling OLD lately, but I'm glad you are here because I think that means you are the oldest here instead of me! :)
And yes I completed my taxes (took forever), getting nice refunds, especially from the state because of the hybrid car we bought (but didn't qualify for fed credit :(
And I'm slow to get to the ground and sometimes don't even get back up before Cathe and company are going back down to the ground again! I used my high step topper to use as my "floor' so I put my hands on that.

Gotta get....need food....need to work.....

Still sick. Oldest DD is sick too. We let her sleep in our bed so that I could keep an eye on her and she talked of and on for two hours! I finally had to tell her that not talking would help her get better. ?????? No wonder it takes me so long to recover, I cannot rest when I am resting.

Kathryn - Why don't you rent Insanity before you buy it? This way you will know if you like it or not.

Ronne- I agree, lighter weights for plyo work. Then again, I vote for lighter weights for just about everything. ;-)

Hi to everyone.

Hi girls! I just finished washing the floors, (again) vacuuming(again), wash, (you know it, again), now I need to get my w/o in! Just some cardio, have to think. We just took our taxes in this week, should be done next. Lisa, wonder why you didn't get a credit? They told us we would get one for DH's new car and it is not a hybrid. Hope all is well with Maddy. I'm still eating my peanut m&m's, at least yours are yogurt! Murphy, how is everyone? Get Better! Ronne, plyo legs is fun! You do get 30 sec breaks! Don't go too heavy tho! Let us know what you think! Kathryn, I don't let the kids do too many activities, this basketball is exhausting! Almost every day this week! They finally won a game last night, my baby girl got her 1st basket, I was so happy for her, I cried! well, I have procrastinated long enough, I need to go peruse my dvd's and get busy! Talk to you all later! Mary

Miscellaneous questions:

Murphy: Where would I rent Insanity? I didn't know such a thing was possible!

Mary: I hated basketball (we skipped it this year), but DH just informed me that soccer starts next week. At least he's got both kids on the same team, so it's only one game and one practice a week. (And he's the coach, so that makes it easier.)

Ronne: I dreaded Plyo Legs more than anything in STS -- even pull-ups and push-ups. I did both plyo legs and squat rack legs every week of Meso 3, and I preferred squatting 100 lbs to all of that jumping. I recommend going lighter on the weights because it is just so tough with the cardio. (You alternate a weighted and non-weighted workout with not enough rest in between.) Good luck with it. I know I'll do STS again this year -- probably in the summer.

Mary: Poor Maddie! That low blood sugar thing is tough -- I suffer from it and can't skip meals or go too long without eating. I hope she's okay.

I sometimes cheat on squat thrusts and use the small step topper instead of putting my hands on the floor. It decreases the distance that I have to travel to hit the floor and come back up. Even those two inches make a difference.

Am I really the oldest person in this check-in thread? The horror!

Hello

Thanks for the warnings on Plyo legs. I'll definitely take it easy tomorrow. Today was GSCT. DD joined in with me, doing the push-ups! She did really well!

Lisa - don't worry about the fitness test. I think those machine-based ones are always a bit iffy. Poor Maddy, perhaps she'd like some yogurt-covered almonds!

Murphy - you poor thing! Can't even rest when you're ill! Hope things get better soon.

Mary - congrats to your DD! It's nervewracking watching your kids doing stuff, isn't it?

Kathryn - yikes, now I'm scared about plyo legs! You'd rather do squats! eek!

Well, hope everyone has a good weekend and see you on Monday.

Just stopping by to say hello. I had another sleepless night but I am surprisingly feeling better. I guess my cold/flu bugs could not peacefully set up shop and decided to leave. :)

Kathryn - You can rent exercise dvd's from KineticFlix.com. It used to be called flickety fit so if I got the name wrong google flickety fit and kinetic flix should come up. That is where I rented Insanity, some Cathe's I did not own and some other stuff.

Hello and happy weekend to everyone.

Murph

Weekend -- hooray!

Murphy, thanks for the info. I hope you feel better. Take it easy (no working out!) until you recover. I give you lots of credit for even checking in.

Ronne, maybe you won't hate plyo legs, but it just wasn't my favorite. Since I did squats and plyo, the plyo was probably harder than it would have been otherwise. Let me know what you think.

Today I did Art of Strength Firepower (kettlebell) workout. Foolishly, I picked the Four-Alarm premix. Kettlebells workouts are humbling. And exhausting. I need a nap!

Well, DH is going to work out with me on the weekend (he sleeps in M-F, then works out twice a week), so I'll be doing Imax 2 and Muscle Endurance this weekend. If I can stand it. Or stand up.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Hi everyone, well today was Muscle Max, it was a nice change and I'm thinking of going to total body workouts for at least a week to change it up and hopefully be a bit kinder to my muscles (for some reason they seem a bit easier to me).

Kathryn, your DH is like mine, works out only on the weekends (we DO NOT do together though), plus he only puts in 30 min. He says this treadmill is for me, but I told him I thought if we got a better one he would do more on it as what he is doing doesn't look to be enough for him. He didn't like that. MEN, they have it so easy....burns fat just by lifting a pinky finger. Well, I'm afraid time is starting to catch up to him (he is 53) and it's easier to be proactive than reactive.

Ronne, I think Plyo is fun, just go light on the weights! I liked it better than meso 3 squat legs myself. I didn't like lifting that heavy and it seemed to hurt my knees more than plyo. I swear my knees need WD40 sometimes.

Murphy, so glad you are feeling better, I'll have to check out that dvd rental place. Too bad Blockbuster doesn't have any because my DS works there and gets 5 a week free!

Mary, We get the sales tax deduction on the new car on federal, it's just that SOME hybrids also get a credit on federal, ours didn't...I think they only have so many per model and there were none left, we knew that when we bought it, in fact it was the Colorado state sales tax credit of 3000 that made our decision to buy the hybrid.

HAve a good weekend everyone. I think Sat will be a rest day for me, my bod needs it and deserves it. Then maybe CCPP on the treadmill on Sunday --- 1 hr, oh my, I used to do this all the time, I have lost a lot of umpf somehow....age? Oh and Kathryn, I'm 45 and older by Mary by a month, I think that does qualify you as oldest or am I not remembering your age correctly.?
