First time: Step Works!

I just had a great time this morning doing Step Works for the first time! It was just as fun as Rhythmic Step. I previewed it once through 2 days ago, and did it while it was still fresh in my mind. Now I have another 1-hour steady-state cardio to do!

I got almost all of the moves, but there are still a few challenging ones I need to smooth out. The power lunges across the step in Body max will now be easier because now I feel properly trained! Bravo Cathe for having made this video!

Glad to hear this! I have been contemplating getting Step Works for some time. I love RS so I'm sure I'll enjoy SW as well - thanks for the info!

Way to go Connie!!! I think that Step Works is my favorite. I bounce back and forth between my faves, but this one is just awesome. I love the end of the 2nd section where you think you're done and then Cathe says, "Suprise!" And throws in knees around the world. And I just love the power mambo part. The up and back in the 2nd section threw me, so I made my husband stand there and watch the tape, then me and he told me which foot should go where. The things I make him do. Anyway, congrats!!!

Jillybean-
That's exactly the section (up and back) that I think needs smoothing! I know I start it like Cathe, but at the end of it I'm in a different spot! LOL

I think Step Works will go right up there with Rhythmic Step as my top 2. I still really love the Rhythmic Step Challenge. I hope Cathe formats more like that in the future.

It took me almost 2-1/2 YEARS to try Step Works! I was chicken because of Collages description of "complex choreography," (when they still reviewed her videos), and it seemed so FAST!

I finally tried it in May, and I love it! I think it's easier to learn than Rhythmic Step, and is more intense. I REALLY like this tape!!!!

Oh Honeybunch,
Let me just take this opportunity to tell you that you are an inspiration to me! I have lately been considering getting ACE certified. Congratulations on doing it! I would like to do it in stages and I have little expectation of making money (I am a dental hygienist) but I want to be certified just to be confident in giving advice and training to others, for the satisfaction of it.

I live in Northern Calif. and there are a lot of health clubs and gyms around me. Well, any advice you have would be welcome- my e-mail is [email protected].

I have taken Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Biochemistry and, before those, Human Biology as requirements for admission to dental hyg. school (also Public Speaking, lol). I plan to get the textbook, study manual and sample test from the ACE site. As soon as I have time ahead of me for reading and a few bucks to get 'em. (Next week?)

How are your classes going? What have you learned on-the-job that you did not expect? Any hints that you could give me would be most welcome!

Please forgive me for taking your time.

Hey, no problem! If you have a chance to take a prep class for the ACE CPT exam with Exercise Etc., please do so.

What I've learned as far as doing aerobic classes is that it's hard to learn routines! It takes a LOT of practice, and it's a big adjustment to learn to "call," that is, cue the moves. You have to get your timing down, and learn how loud to yell over the music. BUT, it's fun, thank goodness. You have to know your group and gear your workouts to their fitness level, while at the same time not bore them.

I will be starting soon as a Personal Trainer for my local Y, which is so cool because they will be handing me clients, PLUS give me a free membership and free training. It's Y training, to be sure, but it's still good stuff. I still want to go on for more ACE certifications because they are worth more out in the market. I got the Y job with the paper in hand and a fair amount of BS-ing and chutzpah.

Sounds like you have a good academic background with the science courses you took.

Good luck! Going the ACE route is a smart move.
