Finally going to do it!

I posted this in the STS forum but didn't get any response so i'm reposting here as I know open discussion gets more action.

So I've had the whole STS series since it came out. I have yet to do the 1RM and have only played around with Meso 1 and 2 some plyo legs but not Meso 3. I feel like I have totally plateaued and need to set some goals. So starting tomorrow I'm going to begin my 1RM testing. I'm going to use it as my weight lifting routine along with cardio for this week and then starting next week I will beging with the 3 month STS rotation. Did you all do the 1 RMs as per muscle group? I'm really ready for a change and I'm going to put my full trust in this program
 
Good for you! I was the same way - I pre-ordered STS but then the 1RM tests kept me from doing it for the longest time. I finally decided that I needed to bite the bullet and get it done, so I made it my goal to do a few a day and start at the beginning of January. I am NOT someone who usually enjoys weights, but I did the 3 1/2 month STS/SC rotation and really enjoyed it. I am going to do the 6 month rotation probably starting in the fall. I didn't do all of the 1 RM tests - some I just didn't have heavy enough weight for so I tried to do at least all of the 3 star and up one's and some of the 2 star but I'm not sure I did any of the 1 star ones. I really loved having those workout cards that told me the weight that I should use for each exercise. Sometimes I had to go up or down after I started, but it at least gave me a good idea where to start. HTH.

I did the same thing as Pam. I did the 1RM tests only for the higher starred exercises and skipped the 1 & 2 starred exercises and estimated on those.

I started with the 6 1/2 month rotation and I am looking forward to my final rest week next week! I'm spent!

So, Kariev, enjoy! I think you'll be surprised with the results you get! As long as you follow your 1RM and remember, if the weight is too light or too heavy, just make the adjustment and recalculate the 1RM and it will give you new numbers for the following weeks. I love that about STS!

I think the 1 RM are one of the reasons that STS is so superior to all of the other 3 month ST programs out there. That along with the great instruction from Cathe and the variety of the workouts...okay, the whole dang thing is impressive! But the 1 RM and the workout cards really make all the difference. Those small increases in weight every week really add up! And I wouldn't have done them if I hadn't had my workout cards with my weights for each individual exercise each workout.

You will not regret doing the 1 RM and because you did them you will get so much more out of your STS experience. Good for you for making the commitment!
 
Thanks so much for all the support. I'm excited about finally doing the program as intended. Another thing that has kept me from doing the program is I'm afraid of getting bulky. Silly I know but its a hard mindset to change. I'm ready to challenge both my mind and body.
