figure competition

Hey Cathe,
I thought I had read somewhere that you did a figure or fitness competition. Would you recommend the STS for someone wanting to train for one? Also, do you train people for these events? I am working with someone for my diet and I am a certified pt, but I know that I need someone experienced in this type of thing to help me. What do you recommend as my next step?

I prepare girls for figure competitions - from what I've read of STS, a lot of it would be suitable for training for one but this is of course dependent on your experience with strength training etc.

I'm currently booked out for 2008 but you can check out my site and blog (check the October 2007 archives for my national level competitor, Shannon Condoleon). The blog also links to many other competitors so you can get the lowdown on preparation and training.

Ooohhh, I would LOVE to get into this!! Are there amateur ones around the country? Where would I get info on these types of events?

I don't know too much info about these events, but I do know they have pro and amateur ones. I think you have to win certain events to be considered pro. If anyone has anymore info please let me know. I am 23 working on my BS in exercise science, a cetified instructor and personal trainer. I want to get to the next level and know I need a pro to help me. Any suggestions?

There are many different federations in bodybuilding/figure - some are drug tested, some are not. I would lean towards competing in natural bodybuilding organization eg WNSO, or INBF rather than the NPC- IFBB.

There are plenty of trainers in the US that can help prepare you for a competition. YOu could try Lisa Reed (you'll have to google for her site) - she's also an exercise phys.

Cheers
