Favorite sneaker?

Hi Cathe
My Ryka's are wearing out so time for a new pair! I'd love to know what you prefer to wear to make it through your workouts! What are your favorite workout sneakers?
Thanks!
Liz

Mine are the Asics Gel Upshot - LOVE these! I got the black ones with the light blue trim. I'm just about ready for my 2nd pair. I had Ryka's in the past, too, but the older I get, the more cushioning I need, & the Asics just seemed to give me more of that. I saw a review for them in Self Magazine awhile back - they won high praise from the reviewers, & I have to agree!

What store carries asics gel? I hate going to 10 stores to find a pair. We have belk.. jc penny... sears.. foot locker. Those are what comes to mind here.

I get mine from Zappos.com. They offer free shipping both ways, so if I'm shoe shopping & like several styles, I'll order them all, try them all (sometimes with one kind on one foot, another kind on the other foot at the same time... LOL) so that I can really compare them. I even work out in them, just to make sure they are going to be what I need. Then, whatever I don't like, I return for free & I never have to leave the comfort of my home!;)

i tried the gel upshots and i think they were good shoes, but they were too tight for my feet....so now i have a pair of new balance and a pair of reebok zig techs....but u have to find what works for ur feet and what u will be using them for.....b/c i actually tried another pair of rbk zig techs that didn't work for my feet, but tried a different pair that are actually girls youth and so far i love them.....i also love asics but have to find a pair that works for my wide feet.....happy shoe shopping:)

I was gonna order online but was afraid i wasnt aloud to return shoes. But that is so great to know i think ill start shopping soon.!

I agree with the Asics gel upshot. I just ordered them from zappo's, and so far, I love them! Did Cardio Core Circuit today with them, and they provided great cushioning. I also have wide feet but the fit is great for me. No breaking in period needed. I had the asics gel intensity, which I also loved, but I wore them out with all my tough Cathe workouts. :) Thought I'd try the Upshot this time.

I've used Ryka's for the past 10 years and really loved the fit. I recently puchased Avia 1212's and find the stability is better than the Ryka's. I'd say they're made for people with supination, which is my problem area. My feet want to roll to the outside but the heel won't allow it. My plantar fasciitis is under control as well. I did have to go down a half size, as they seem to run big. Nice roomy toe box too.

I was so annoyed trying to find the right sneaker , I would loose the lateral support within weeks and would have to get a new pair. I bought a pair of the vibram five finger and would never go back to wearing sneakers. I have strengthened my ankles tremendously since wearing these, I can jump higher and my feet feel so much better. It takes some time getting used to them but they are so worth it.

I just saw the Asics Gel Instensity...I love the look of the shoe a bit on the expensive side though!! I also love the upshots but a bit expensive. I've been wearing the New Balance 622 for years but no longer make them. I also like how the Ryka Synergy and Ryka assist St...wish to shoes? Has anyone tried the rayka Synergy??

I have these same shoes! LOVE! I received them in early January and have been wearing them ever since with no problems. :D:D:D

Ryka Transition

This sneak looks like the sneaks Cathe and crew are wearing on the total body trisets from the low impact series. Can anyone clarify if these are the sneak? They are incredibly lightweight and versatile!

I was going to get a pair of these to run in, I never thought about working out in them to Cathe! Have you done any of the HiiT's in them? How'd you feel?

Elle,
I do all my workouts in the vibrams including HITTs. If you get them start out slow, I jumped right in and did a full hour w/o the first day and my calves were sore for about a week. It is best to do 10-15 min a day for the first week to get your muscles ready. I would never go back to wearing sneakers, one day I put the sneakers on after wearing the vibrams and it felt like they weighed a ton! I can exercise longer, jump higher and my lateral support has greatly improved since wearing these. Hope this helps.
