! Fatloss checkin Jan 2013

Hi Sue, are you starting Meso 3 on Sunday? You are breezing right through! I just finished my LAST disc today. I'm sort of sad about it. I have a plan for the whole rest of this year and will do another 90 day STS rotation in September. I have nothing planned for August for rotation, so today I've decided I'm going to do a ballet barre/yoga/dance rotation for that month, just to shake things up. I'll be putting on heavy cycling miles that month, so I'll be ready to lighten up inside.

That posting issue I was referring to is all fixed now. I found your friend request on MFP, but now I don't know how to find you. I'll look around tomorrow for you. : )

Yup, I'm on meso 3 starting Sunday! I can't wait to get back to weights. Don't be sad about STS, it will wait patiently while you do other things :). Tonight I had pizza for dinner, not a good choice obviously. After dinner I did blender mix of most of the step sections from xtrain hiit, cardio leg blast and the tabata recoveries. it wiped me out! it was after eating pizza so I wanted to hurl through most of it and had to take lots of breaks.

if you have the MFP app you can look under the friends link. if you're on the website there is a friends link under the my home tab. when I look at other peoples diaries the foods shown don't always add up to the total calories so it doesn't show you the whole diary, I'm not sure why. Also, it seems no one uses the weights entry (looks very cumbersome to add reps/sets for each exercise), people are putting all their cardio and weights under cardio. since I started using this site a HRM has risen to the top of my wish list.

How do you gauge how much you like a rotation? Is it the way you feel while performing the exercises? or the way you feel in general while on the rotation? the results you see? or some combination of the above?

have a fun rest day, how's your hubby recuperating?

Hi Tina I hope you had a good weekend :) Yesterday I did hard strikes cardio only again. That one is easy to choose because you just put on the gloves & you're done 35 minutes later. Today was D25!!! Chest & back, this is possibly the best workout for me. Exercises were similar so the weights were as well, equipment changes were minimal. Alternating exercises and long rests between sets, I was in heaven! We'll see how I feel tomorrow, I'm hoping to do legs.

Did you get an outdoors ride in today?

Hi Sue, happy to hear you're liking M3 so far. My triceps are still sore from Friday's workout. Saturday was no workout at all, not even a walk. It was too soupy outside for a ride, so we spun inside together today. DH cracks me up, his bike inches forward when he's on the trainer, and he kept saying he's beating me. When Cathe says "you know what I mean by 'surge'?", DH says, "yeah, it's the guy who sells shoes at the outlet".

I hope you like Plyo Legs as much as I do. That first disc, M3D26, leaves me with the worst DOMS out of the four plyo's. I don't know if it's because of it being first of the four, or if it's because of the layout of the mix.

Don't be so hard on yourself about the pizza. You've been doing so well and you have to have a treat here and there. I just need to stop making every meal a treat. My appetite should be slowing down this week. Xtrain cardio's this week. : )

Tina your hubby IS funny :) I can see why you like to spend so much time with him, every woman should be so lucky! Sorry you didn't get in the great outdoors this weekend :(. BTW, I'm not a cyclist - what DOES Cathe mean by surge? Will hubby be doing xtrain cardio with you this week?

I took a rest day today. Wanted to do legs but I guess I went too low on dead lifts yesterday and got myself some glute/hamstring DOMS so I figured I'd give them a day to recuperate. Pretty early in the day I took out that handy app and entered my dinner then worked backwards to make sure I'd have plenty to eat without going over budget. I know what you mean about making every meal a treat, that's what I was doing during the holidays. Documenting everything has helped me this month, especially the note you get when you hit the complete button at the end of the day. I've been writing those numbers in my calendar so next month I'll get to see how accurate they are (assuming I keep eating as I should).

Tomorrow I really will do plyo legs for the first time, can't wait to report back! Ciao :)

Hi Sue, how was plyo legs? I hope you liked it and that you can still walk in 24 hours. ; ) Yesterday was BM2 cardio blast premix and today was a high cadence spin workout. Your questions about "surge" is when during Ride, Cathe wants you to spin faster than the beat of the music.

Great job on the weight loss!! I've lost one pound since last week, only four more to go to be back to my original weight. We just booked a trip for the spring, so I have a new incentive to get cracking the whip on the old diet. See you over at MFP. :)

Plyo legs was HARD!!! I had to take quite a few breaks, the weights at 70% lull you into a false sense of security, then bam! back to plyo (and sucking wind). The good news is it wasnt too hard on my knees. I may just be walking for cardio tomorrow. Congrats on your weight loss too! Where are you going on your trip? I've lost my holiday weight as of today. Part of me was thinking "it's going to be so hard to take it off, why on earth did I ever eat all that food!". I'm glad I was wrong about that. Don't get me wrong, there's definitely some self control involved, but ultimately doable. Check in w/ you tomorrow :)

Hi Tina! I woke up this morning thinking what's the big deal about plyo legs? I barely felt anything! As you can guess, the day progressed and boy did those DOMS show up. My upper body was fine so I did D27 shoulders, bis, tris (loved it). I'm still staying in my calorie allowance but I went a little crazy on carbs today. Tomorrow should ?3 cardio but I haven't chosen a workout yet. How is your rest week going?

Hi Sue, you're doing fantastic in every area! Great job on staying within your calorie range. I'm having a hard time stopping myself from grazing. I couldn't even keep track yesterday, so I gave up on MFP. Today, my resolve is much stronger. My dad has been really sweet and showing up at our door with a bag of groceries whenever he stops by the store. My kids have nicknamed him the junk food fairy (lovingly, of course). Last night was Doritos and ice cream.

Yesterday I finally tried Supercuts, premix #6. It felt pretty easy, much easier than Afterburn. Well, this morning my upper glute area is singing a different toon. I don't usually get DOMS in that area, so I'm thinking this workout will need to be added into rotation. I can't wait for Monday to start the Xtrain weight work. : )

Hope you have a great day! : )

Hi Tina! What a sweet dad you have! How was your resolve today? It's so hard to stop grazing when there's yummy treats around. Sometimes getting them out of my sight works, I'll put stuff in the pantry up high or in the garage to remove the temptation. Im so excited to hear about your rotation next week! Is super cuts not in it? I'm glad to hear super cuts seems easier than Afterburn, removes some of the dread even if there are sneaky DOMS. Speaking of, everything hurt today so I took a 3mile walk and did yoga relax. It worked out a bunch of kinks but my neck is still tight. I'll decide tomorrow if I'll do a cardio day or start week 2 of M3. I ate within calories again (even with 2 brownies!), I don't know what it is about MFP but I'm really taking that calorie budget seriously. Have a great Friday!

Hi Sue, great job keeping within calorie range. I had another grazing day, so I didn't log into MFP.

Today I did Intensity. This weekend I'll do a spin workout. Still playing around with the new rotation starting this week. I printed out blank calendars for the next six month to jot everything down, and I just found my DD has written on the day we're to leave for our vacation, "prepare to get fat". I've got a lot of work to do before we leave, I need to get serious. Shorts in three months (((shiver))).

I hope you have a great weekend. : )

Hi Tina :) I haven't worked out yesterday or today, will do D28 tomorrow, probably some cardio too. I've still been staying under on calories but it's harder without torching some in a workout. I've noticed my water intake has gone down, I think my energy went with it so I'll make an extra effort to get those 8 glasses in.

How motivating is your upcoming trip? Are you going to wear your existing fair weather clothes or buy new? There was a topic on OD recently about xtrain and weight gain, some were noticing added pounds since starting xtrain. It might be water retention, but since you're starting your rotation next week you might want to avoid the scale for a while. It makes no sense but I'm getting so excited for you to start xtrain!!! Chat at you later :)

Hi Sue, woot for staying under your calorie goal. I totally fell of the wagon and have been eating like crazy. We got out this morning for our first bike ride this year and I could REALLLLLLY feel that extra winter 5lbs. It was an eye opener, time to get that weight off!

I wonder if the weight gain people are talking about, may actually be the holiday/winter weight gain. I was going to do the 30 day Xtrain+Ride rotation, but I'm going to jump right in and do the Xtrain + STS rotation. The first two weeks will be Xtrain anyway, plus I'm missing STS.

We're going to Disney and we always buy the meal plan when we go. Last year I had lost about 10 pounds before we left, and gained about four while we were there. That's my goal for this year too. :)

Hi Tina :) Domestic Sunday for me, reorganized the pantry and did some housework. Tonight I made the world's worst oatmeal raisin cookies, but I still ate 3 of them (then tossed the rest in the garbage). Also D28 (chest/back - M3 is officially my favorite) and tabata premix 1 minus core, I'm having a hard time getting myself to do any core work :(. Oh well, room to improve!

So you're jumping right into that 7 month rotation? Looks like you have a great plan in place. I know how hard it is to rein in the grazing. How is your fiber intake? I'm noticing a lot less hunger when I'm eating high fiber foods. I've been eating lentil soup a bit since the 1st of the year. I really don't enjoy the soup but it leaves me full & craving-free for hours.

Have a great Monday, what's your workout going to be? :)

Hi Tina :) Today was D29, plyo legs. I had to pause quite a bit, 30 seconds between exercises was not enough. Now I'm itching to do cardio leg blast in its entirety to see how it compares. I'm way under calories today, just wasn't hungry. How did you do today?

Hi Sue, you're rocking the calorie intake. I wish I could say the same. I'm going to try taking in more fiber and less sugar. The Junk Food Fairy stopped by last night with a giant carrot cake, the left overs are going to work with DH today. I've been looking at purchasing an air pop popcorn maker, that would fill the fiber gap.

Yesterday I did Burn Sets, chest-shoulders-back. It reminded me a little of Meso 3. DH started STS last night, so I did most of it with him, while I helped him set up. I am nice and sore today. I think I'll keep joining in with him at night, but in a more relaxed way.

Kickbox Surge is on the calendar this morning. Cardio Leg Blast for tomorrow, I can't wait to try this one again also. I really enjoyed it the first time through.

I'm hosting book club tonight. Usually I put out brownies and pita chip/hummus, but this time I'm going to do a jello mold with a veggie platter. We going over the book 11-22-63, back when jello molds were all the rage, so this should tie in nicely.

Have a great day! : )

Hi Tina! You're right I am rocking the calorie intake! I hope it's not just new year resolution motivation... I need to keep it going (although I'm going off plan on Saturday with some restaurant food & cocktails to celebrate my Aquarius-ness). Your junk food fairy would not tempt me with carrot cake, he'd have to bring something chocolate and/or pastry :) I saw the banana split inspired yogurt recipe on Cathe's site today, I'm going to have to try that one. For fiber you're supposed to work up to I think 25-30 grams per day. If you go from low numbers to thirty really quick it will probably bind you up, so best to slowly increase. Once you're on track with fiber I think you'll handle temptations and cravings better. For some reason MFP has my fiber goal at 15 which I think is too low. That one and sugar seem wonky to me.

Did you do burn sets and STS D1 yesterday? You should be really sore!!!! I did D30 today, shoulders bis tris. I like working bis and tris, shoulder work feels very unnatural to me, like I don't have good range of motion.

Were there little pieces of fruit in your jello mold? How was book club? Have fun with cardio leg blast tomorrow, I don't know yet what I'll be doing.

Today was cardio leg blast premix 19, cardio only. I didn't want to work out but I knew I'd feel better after and I was right :) I hope you had a good day!

Hi Sue, sorry I've been MIA. Yesterday was CLB in the a.m. and M1D3 in the p.m., with DH. He seems to be really enjoying STS so far. I also just rec'd Christi Taylor's new dance workout; Pure Spice. I attempted several times yesterday to get some of the steps down. This morning I watched the tutorial and then did the full workout. It's so much fun, Christi only cues with her hands, so you can just enjoy the music. I bought it for DD, but I'm going to use it on my light days, or if I need an extra calorie burn after weights.

I haven't been over to MFP. Eating has been meh. I'm sure this dreary winter cold snap has something to do with lack of motivation in that area. I hope you're in a warmer area than us. So, how many STS discs do you have left? Six? Woot! You are almost there! : )

Hi Tina! No worries on MIA, stuff happens :). Did you do CLB in its entirety? Which do you like more, CLB or plyo legs? I looked up pure spice on collage and it looks fun, her legs on the DVD cover are crazy, talk about limber! Did you get the dance moves down? I used to try dancie stuff back when fitTV was on the air, I've got two left feet but when you nail it it's so much fun. Don't go to MFP until you feel like it, seriously. Anything that might cause dread/anxiety/guilty feelings should be avoided. We're trying to improve our lives, not add to the list of things we can feel bad about :). eating will come in line when you're ready. You're a rock star on the workouts :)

I did D31 today, chest/back. Five more workouts then I'm done with STS! tomorrow I'll do legs, then a rest day on Saturday. I'm in the south. Not to make you jealous, but it was in the 70s today, we opened the windows and turned off the heat. Call me crazy but I'd really like to shovel some snow, I miss living up north. Have a wonderful Friday!
