Fatloss check in March 2013

I feel for you Tina! Sorry you had a bad workout day :(. Way to rock on the STS though! That's a lot of pushups!!! you should be so proud of yourself. I liked XT Bis Tris, not as much as chest back shoulders but still a great workout. the time flew by and the workout was done so quickly. I again really liked the stretch at the end. I haven't tried any challenges yet (call me lazy). My plan for the race is to do it in under an hour, I'm running with my sister again and she hasn't trained very much so that might affect my time since I plan on staying with her.

I can't take blood and guts so a lot of watching the walking dead is through hands covering my eyes. It truly is disgusting, but I like the story, I guess that's why I keep watching. I didn't decide to stick with it until about the 3rd episode so if you try it you may need to hang in there for a bit before it takes hold. I read me talk pretty one day, that's the only David Sedaris I've read. I remember liking it. I'd agree that you need something funny after your last book club book.

Congrats on staying under calorie goal!!! :) :) :) I found whole grain bread at the grocery store today that has 5 grams of fiber per slice, you should have seen me in the bread isle comparing labels - I was so happy when I found it people probably thought I was crazy. I also bought coconut oil for the first time, I think I'm going to try to replace the oil in my banana bread with it. I'm not sure how interchangeable oils and butter are but I'll be experimenting.

Hi Addie, don't be shy :)

So, I pulled myself together last night and did Ride with DH. This morning was M3D26 Plyo Legs. I'll do some STS abs later.

Sue, that's awesome that you run with your sister. There is no way I could keep up with my sister. I wish you both luck this Saturday, I hope the weather is good!

While searching audiobooks at our library yesterday, I noticed a man struggling to find something as well. I usually don't stick my nose into other peoples business, but on a whim I grabbed a book I really loved and handed it to him. We ended up talking books for 15 minutes and he suggested I read Into the Woods by Bill Bryson and Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. He said Blink was a great read and it explains how your first instinct is usually always right. It struck me, the irony of my choice to kick up a conversation with him. Life is funny.

Sue, what are the benefits to coconut oil? I noticed Trader Joes has a shelf full of it, so it must be good. Does it heat well?

Hey Addie, hope you're doing well.

: )

Hi Sue, I hope you're doing well. How does the weather look for your race on Saturday? Today I did Cardio Kicks again, but this time I added on 4DS Kickboxing cardio only premix. It was shorter than doing the cardio portions of CM. I had DOMS from the previous day before I started, but now I am REALLY sore. It hurts everytime I get up out of a chair. : O Thanks goodness tomorrow is STS upper body. I'll be leaving the legs alone for awhile.

How did your coconut oil work out? Have you cooked with it yet? Does it have a tropical scent?

: )

Hi ladies! I'm getting tired of calorie restriction, I think I might go to maintenance mode and see if I can hang there for a while without gaining weight. Today I did one round of Tabatacize then walked on the treadmill for an hour. I wanted to do hard strikes with the conditioning drills but still have DOMS from bis/tris two days ago.

Cool meeting that guy in the library, I've heard many times that your first impulse is usually right. I have a habit of second guessing myself, I guess things could be a lot simpler and enter if I could break hat habit. Good for you for going outside your comfort zone.

I haven't used the coconut oil yet. It's supposed to be good for heart health even though it's high on saturated fats and there are claims that it makes losing weight easier. I also wanted to try pulling with it. there was a thread recently on pulling oil though your teeth to improve your health and whiten your teeth. I tried it with olive oil and sunflower oil and it was disgusting both times, so I thought maybe coconut oil will taste better. we'll see :)

Tina you're such a rock star with your workouts enjoy your DOMS :)

Have a great Friday... almost the weekend :)

Good luck tomorrow Sue! I'll be thinking of you. I hope you have nice sunny weather. : ) Do they serve good snacks at the finish? It's all about the snacks and the t-shirt. ; )

Today was M1D2 and W&P abs. DS walked everyday this week. He was proud of this 10 miles/$10. He is even entertaining the idea of going at night as well. I'll be needing another job....

Can't wait to hear how your run went.

Hi to Addie! : )

Hi to Addie! : )

Hi ladies, checking in from my phone on the way to the dash. It's about a 2 hour drive, thankfully I'm a passenger. I had an interesting conversation with my mother. She's almost 70 and obese, possibly morbid. Yesterday she bought a new pair of pants, size 18. I asked her if she was cool with that or if she wanted to try to get into a 16, 14 or 12. She said she's interested in losing weight and would like to walk the warrior dash with us next time it comes around. I told her she needs to start walking regularly, we'll see if she follows through. Good for her if she does. The selfish part of me wants her to lose weight because there will come a time when she needs day to day care an it'll be easier to manage that if she's not obese.

The weather should be great, it got up to about 80 yesterday. That's bordering in too hot for me. I want to get through the race in under an hour and not mess up my hair. That 2nd part is a tall order. I never eat the food at these things, I've packed rice cakes and granola. My sister packed some m&m trail mix so I might go wild and dip into that :)

Nice job on the abs Tina! I think I started the year saying I'd do abs 3x per week and have only done them like twice in 2.5 months. Your DS is smart, make the money early and often :). Start charging him for doing his laundry and maybe you'll break even :)

Hi to Addie, where are you?

I'll check in later if I don't sleep the rest of the day :)

Hi Sue, I hope your race went well. Do you get muscle soreness after? Did you take Sunday off? I took Saturday off and we biked yesterday in 24 degrees. I'm jealous of your heat wave. We have another big snow storm tonight into tomorrow, GRRRRRRRRRR!

I'm on the same page as you with my mom. She is so discouraged with her weight gain after the cancer treatments. I try to get her out for a walk when the weather permits, but she is still very fatigued, so the walks are never more than a mile. And the BLEEPING weather keeps getting in the way. I hope she'll start feeling better once she can get outside for long stretches.

This week I have STS week 2 for upper body, and plyo legs week 2 on Wednesday. I let my sister borrow Xtrain, so I may change up the following two weeks and do GS first and then Xtrain. Only 5 weeks until vacation! :D

I hope you have a great day! : )

Hey, ladies. Can I join back in? I miss yall. I want a checkin where the group actually focuses on working out and talks about working out. Please, please, please let me back in!!!!!

Okay, my weight today is 178.4 and am a size 18/16, some 14/12s on the lower half. I've been low carbing and getn back to my Cathe dvds. Today was MMA Boxing. Tonight a short walk on the dreadmill and weights tomorrow.

Woot!Woot!! We've missed you Shereta! You don't even need to ask to come back. How has life been? Are you still running with DH? Did you purchase the Xtrain series? So happy to hear from you!

Tina :)

Hey Sue, have you gotten up from your nap yet? ; )

Welcome back Shereta! What have you been up to?

Well I failed at both my goals in the race this weekend. My time was 82 minutes, my worst performance yet. I was pretty bummed about it and my sister kept saying the course was harder this time. I thought that was her trying to justify, but we looked up the results online and the best time on this course was about 10 minutes slower than the best time on the last course, so the course could have been harder.

There were two obstacles of note. one was an almost vertical wall with ropes hanging half to three quarters of the way down that you had to run and jump onto then hoist yourself up the wall, it was probably 20 feet high (I'm not great judging distances). There was one rope all the way to the right that hung almost all the way down so you could walk up grab it and get going, it seemed to be the women's rope. I did not choose that option and I've got to say I had such a rush when I got to the top of that wall. Many thanks to Cathe upper body workouts on that one :)

There was also a mud pit that you had to get into then pull yourself out of, 3 pits in a row, about 5 feet deep. I rock starred the first two then total failure on the 3rd, couldn't get any traction. So I pushed my sister up by the glutes to get her out and she tried to grab my hand to help me out but it didn't work. After falling backward into the pit a few times it took two guys to pull me out, a bit embarrassing , but I was grateful for the assist.

Then I slept the rest of the weekend :)

Tina how's your snow? did you get a big storm? Just think you'll be relaxing in the FL sun before you know it!!! Do you have a treadmill? I got my mother on it last night walking very slow in front of the TV. She lasted a mile, I think it's great, she has to start somewhere. What cardio do you have planned to complement your STS?

Oh, today I started my Xtrain 30 day rotation. I think I mentioned I decided to do the ride version but swap out another cardio for ride. I also might swap out another hiit for the all out low impact since I don't really like that workout. I suppose I could give it one more try before giving up on it though.

On the food front, I'm officially tired of restricting my calories. My weight loss may slow down until I can get my mojo back.

Waves to Addie!

Have a great Tuesday everyone :)

Hey, Ladies. Life has been good. I haven't been running cause I just lost my way. I had a 10K planned for 3/9, but I didn't do it cause I just wasnt in shape. Note to self, don't plan any races for the spring when you hate running in the cold and don't train.

Yes, I have XTrain, but haven't done all the workouts yet.

Todays am workout was a Firm toning dvd. It was good since I'm just getting back started. I didn't even get my walk in last night, but plan to do it right when I get home today. Tomoro am will be Crossfire. I'm hitting it back in with a vengence. I plan to do a dreamill walk/run on tues and fri evenings.

I have a trip planned next week, so I will have to take a short break from working out, but I will keep my eating in check.

My ultimately goal right now is to drop as much weight as possible by aug 10 which is our 20 year anniversary. I want a nice pic made of us on that date.

Whoa Sue, I didn't realize your race was a obstacle course! That sounds so tough. You must be aching all over! Congratulations for finishing! How did you get all the mud off before driving home?

Shereta, how do you like Crossfire? I haven't purchased it yet. Would you say its similar to Afterburn?

We had a snow day today and I've yet to do one thing productive. I have kickboxing planned at some point today...

Hey Addie, I hope you're doing well.

: ) Tina

I like Crossfire better than To the Max. TTM has some severe step portions in it. YIKES!! no thank right now. I like AfterBurn too. They are not the same to me except both deliver a serious calorie burn.

Speaking of Kickboxing, I did MMA Boxing yesterday. I realy punched hard and am very sore today. Love it!!!

I did walk 3 miles after work yesterday. I had to really press through cause I was sore from the boxing on monday.

Today, during Crossfire, I was sore in back from boxing and glutes from the walking, but I pressed through and got 39 minutes in before I pooped out. Tomorrow, I will do To the max, Friday will be Trisets Premix and Friday evening another 3 mile walk. I am on a mission!

Hello Ladies,

Addie is FINALLY here. Ugh!!! Really where have I been. Have of March is gone and I have not any where near my rotation. Oh well, New start! Right???

Today i did 20 walk on the treadmill. Tonight will be upper body.

Hello to all. Hope everyone doing great. Be back later.

Addie.

Feel so good to be back. :)

Back again,

Well, upper body workout is a bust. Hopefully I can get in tomorrow.

Hello Shereta. Yes! Keep moving forward!

Hi to Tina and Sue. What are your plans for today?

Also as for my diet I have decided start off by changing one thing at a time. For me it is my drinks.

Any advices/suggestions??

Thanks in advavce.

Oh... Happy First day of Spring!

Hi Ladies, today was Plyo Legs from week 2, and the bonus legs from Meso 1, week 1 and 2. It timed out to be about 75 min. I squeezed in the wall squats and fire walkers too.

I had a wake/funeral to attend tonight and drove up with my parents. We didn't get home until almost 9:00. My dad pulled into McDonald's when we were five miles from home to get us all a sundae. I clapped like a little kid in the backseat. So, needless to say, eating nutritiously was another fiasco. I went to put on my nice pair of dress pants and couldn't button them up, and I STILL ate the ice cream. (it was sooo good)

I've been having the weirdest sensation in my knee. It feels like heartburn, but doesn't hurt, just irksome. I'm going to do a low impact spin workout and plan on only upper body on Friday to let it rest up.

I hope you're all having better willpower on your end. : )

I ate 47 grams of fiber today so it may get a wee bit uncomfortable in the next day or so :) TMI? sorry! No workout for me yesterday or today, I've definitely got my lazy going but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. My eating has also been less than stellar.

Shereta you're killing the workouts! I hope you hit your goal for your anniversary - great accomplishment on the almost 20 years!!!

Tina did your knee start feeling weird before/during/after your leg w/o? On washing up after the dash - think pond water & baby wipes. You kinda have to leave the OCD at home :)

Addie nice job on the treadmill! For drinks I do mostly black coffee, water and tea. I always have one of those three within arms reach. I'm not sure if you're a diet cola drinker but there was a recent thread on OD about it and someone posted a bunch of reasons not to imbibe.

Have a great Thursday ladies :)
