Fall is in the air!

At about 4A I heard this horrible noise outside our bedroom on the wood balcony. I jumped up thinking someone was out there. Then it dawned on me that it was merely an acorn that had dropped from the tree!! LOL! Then I started thinking how much I look forward to Fall, however not the falling acorns! ha ha! Even at the bus stop this morning it was so nice out. I enjoy the "freeness" of summer. No schedule, no routine. I just can't stand how hot the summer's have become. I'm looking forward to the cooler weather. Maybe my kids will be able to get out more and ride bikes, play on the swing set, etc. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to get some running in outside, too.

Anyone else looking forward to Fall?

Fall is beautiful here in the part of Virginia that I live in. I get to watch the mountains behind me change colors before my eyes. It was freezing this morning, but will usually warm up to around mid 80's by afternoon. Doesn't get really cold until November around here. It is nice to not have all that humidity.

Absolutley Dallas! Fall is my favorite season. I love when you can wear just a sweater or light jacket. It's sad summer's over, but now everything will turn color and be beautiful and there's just something about that crisp air we get in the fall. Love it.

Charlotte ~ Oh, you're so lucky! You have a view of the mountains from your house?

Kali ~ I love all the changing colors too. The best part is pushing all the leaves into a huge pile and letting the kids jump and play in them!

I LIVE for fall. I start thinking about the next one the minute winter kicks in. I like winter and spring too, but they just mean summer will come again. Don't like summers in Arkansas at all. I should move.

Fall means no humidity, crystal clear blue skies, warm fuzzy jackets, crackly leaves, leaving the windows open all the time and snuggling down under the blankets when you realize it's 40 degrees in the house because you left the windows open all night!

After the hot summer we have had I very much am loking forward to fall! I love the cooler days and the smell of the air! It also gets me in the mood for my favorite holiday...Christmas!

I love fall, too, but there are drawbacks to this season....spiders start moving indoors. I killed 2 just this morning - one on my step bench and one on my stability ball!! YUCK!!!

We're going to have very "unfall" like weather this weekend - it's supposed to get in the 90's on Sunday!!!

September-January are my favorite times of the year...In September, I start changing the plants on the patios and deck...All mums, strawbales, pumpkins, gourds, etc...This weekend I've got a day off, and am in the mood for that!

One "spring" cleaning 'till the windows are closed up for 6 months and the soup pot and bread machine start up almost nonstop for the winter months...

Apple and pumpkin pickin', cookin' and bakin'...

After Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping begins and the above mentioned give way to snowmen and santas...

Now keep in mind, I'm not an "outdoor" winter person (I'm in Minnesota, are you nuts??)...I LOVE spring, summer and fall outdoorsy person, but fall and winter are my "feel-good" seasons!

Dallas: That is too funny, I've been noticing the acorns falling and making that LOUD noise outside, too. Fall is definitely on it's way.

I'm a Minnesota-girl, too, and the changing of the seasons is just awesome! I'm looking forward to fall this year because I know our Disney Cruise is just around the corner then. :)

Happy Fall,
Marcia

Shannon and Terri ~ This was a hot summer! We lived at the pool.

Angie ~ Ewwww! You had to remind me about the spiders!;-) I really have a spider-a-phobia!!! I always pull the covers down in my bed and check before I get in at night. I've woken up with some big bites! I could always blame my 2 1/2 year old since he sleeps with us! ha ha He's so funny. He picks the darn things up and says, "Look mom a spider." I'm always like that's nice honey, now go flush that down the toilet. It's supposed to be hot here this weekend?! Darn! It's are first "sick" free weekend here.

MJ in MN ~ I love decorating our front porch with everything that you described. The straw makes a nice mess in the back of my SUV, but it looks so nice when it's done. You'll have to share some of your soup recipes in the Cathe cook book, if not could you e-mail me some?

Marcia ~ Last year I was in the backyard playing with the kids and an acorn hit me on the head! When they really get going it almost looks like it's raining acorns.

BTW, Maricia and MJ I just love MN. It's just beautiful up there. I've been up there a handful of times.

Yes, after the horribly hot summer we've had...Fall will be a welcome change! :) Lately the weather has been pretty gorgeous and if it would stay like this all year I'd be happy!:+ But since it's not going to, bring on some pleasantly cooler weather! :) I have been taking walks with Joey as much as I can now that it's cooled down some...I'll be out more and more as the incidents of nasty weather come to an end...once winter comes though I'm in trouble x( ... I HATE the cold and won't go out in it if I don't have to. I'm afraid I'll be a shut-in once it gets below 40 degrees!

I agree with you Wendy. After the heat and humidity we had all summer, fall is a welcome change. My runs are so much better and gee I can finally do something with my hair, besides clipping it up in a hair clip :)

this is my FAVORITE season! I love the crisp air and the smell of the leaves as they change and fall. Every year we go about an hour south to the hills and hike throught the changing leaves and then head to town to stock up on apple butter, pumpkin fudge and fall scented candles. Lovely time!!!

I have a huge, old walnut tree in my backyard. Those things HURT when the hit you on the head. And the squirrels are going crazy right now, eating them and burying them.

This is my favourite season too. I love the colours, the crisp, fresh air, the hikes... I have about 6 very large trees on my property, so I don't much like the raking:p But I'll live with it:)

Sophie and I are going apple picking soon. So I can make yummy apple pies. You know, the NON-clean end of the food spectrum.}(

Hey Shelley--I hear ya about those walnut trees.:D We have 2 and they are big, old, beautiful trees.

Watching the squirrels is a full time job for kitty. Our little Johnny is an indoor cat and he runs from window to window in an effort to track the squirrels. It cracks me up every time :7 :7

Fall is my favorite season too, for all the reasons listed above and also because I put wreaths of fruit and pinecones on all of the windows across the front of my house, and a big one on the front door, and I keep them up until after Christmas. My house is a colonial style, cedar, 2 story stained dark brown and it looks so pretty in the fall--like it's a part of nature. It makes me feel cozy.:+

Michele

Thanks Missy!! It's so funny because as I type, I have half naked men on ladders staining my house. Everytime I look out the window I see naked torso's---And some of them are ripped:p :p It's such a distraction:7
