Fall Clothes

It's that time again. Time to replenish the wardrobe for a new season. So what's everyone getting? Or will you just manage with what you already have? I tend to be ruthless about purging clothes every season, so I end up having to go out and get a few things.

I like the look of the cuffed cropped trousers with boots and the menswear-style vests that are "in" this season. I like the layering thing too. I despise the skinny jeans and pants, and the leggings under mini skirts (unless you're between 6 and 16:p).

I'm really bad at shopping, so I figure maybe if I pick all your brains, I could get some ideas!;)

I'm bumping your thread, Shelley, because I don't have a clue and would love to hear what you pick out of everyone's brain with regard to fall fashion.

Thanks Melody. Apparently nobody wants to talk fashion with me. Which is a shame, because now I'll be reduced to my usual wardrobe of men's cargos and baggy sweatshirts. Which make me feel like a big lump. Which depresses me. And that'll send me spiralling into some kind of fashion-induced psychotic freefall.

AND IT'S ALL BECAUSE NOBODY ON CATHE FORUMS WOULD TELL ME WHAT FALL FASHION THEY LIKE!!!!

*sobs*

Wish I could help but I have no idea what's in fashion, except in kids' clothes, as I was recently shopping for my DN and DN for bday/xmas. And all that was online, as I fear going to the mall almost as much as I fear worms. :p Shopping, ugh.

Sparrow, Fashion Benighted and Proud of it...

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow - what a ride!’ — Peter Sage

I haven't really started thinking fall clothes too much, but am starting to. I love the cropped trousers w/ boots! Wore that quite a lot last year. Vests too - so cute! I like straight leg jeans & trousers, but not skinny (doesn't suit my body.) I'm still wearing my Gap Long & Lean jeans (bootleg) as they suit my body and I like them. }D

This year I've so far bought a b/w stripy 3/4 sleeve long t-shirt to wear w/ a denim pencil skirt, belted w/ a wide black belt and black ballet flats - kind of Parisian look.

I've also got a long (halfway down the leg) grey cardi to wear open or belted.

I've got my eye on a pair of ankle boots, but need to tread carefully there - definitely don't want the 'elf boot' look!:D Clogs are really in here - I've got a really comfy pair from Clarks that I will wear a lot.

I'm still into wrap dresses - just got a new grey one that I'm wearing w/ a black cami, black leggings, and black ballet flats.

I've got a stack of British Vogue, American Vogue, and British In Style to tackle on the flight to Seattle tomorrow, and my credit card is ready! Will probably pick up a few things while I'm in the States.

Does that help at all?

Now we're talkin'!!! Thanks Steph!

I know what you mean about the elf boot thing. I think I could only wear ankle boots with long pants.

Talk to me more about these wrap dresses.... they sound interesting.

I'll come out to talk with you about fashion. However I'm probably a walking fashion faux pas. :) :)

For the most part I try to recycle what I already own each season. I'm not into keeping up with the latest style, but tend to go with a classic look that is good from year to year. I own the basics, white tailored shirt, 2 black pants in different styles, black skirt, navy pants, etc. I'm the kinda girl that buys minimal things and mixes and matches it all to death with varying tops, sweaters, jackets, etc. This week, for an early birthday present, I plan to buy a couple of things from Chadwick's catalog - a couple of wool jackets, a long sweater, & knit top. Maybe I'll buy more, but that will be later on in the season.

Here are the links on what I plan to buy:

BTW, I will buy a new pair of knee high boots too. I wear them so much during the winter with long skirts. Maybe I'll buy a pair of ankle boots too.

Banana Republic and JCrew have some very cute wrap dresses that are out this season.

The classics are in - sweaters with trousers, ballet flats (just got some really cute and cheap ones from eBay), as well as tall heels.

Seeing the cropped look with a suit so far, mostly, although sweater vests are in all of the stores with a crisp button down underneath it.

It's all about the preppy look this season!

OOOOHHHHH Shelly!! I love talking fashion!!

I LOVE the cropped trousers and boots look! I love the new "business suit" looks for women. Lets see, the layered look yes! Also the long fitted pea coat type jackets are cool! I love love the tall boots. I also like the long sleeve buttom up shirts with the cardigan vests over them.
I will never do skinny jeans! I need the flare. I actually get alot of fashion mags in the mail every month. Actually, Walmart (of all places) is coming out with some really nice clotehes for fall, especially the George collection.
Oh I could go on and on!
I love the sexy heels too!

Oh and the tights with the cropped trousers and cool shoes.

Oh I better stop now!

I have to get my sis in on this! She has awesome taste, and the best thing, Now I can fit into her clothes!! Yay me!!

Ooooh, I love the pics! Especially the top!

I'm trying so hard to find knee-high boots that I like. I've bought two pairs in the past two years and I don't much like either of them. I'll keep searching though. Can't live without my boots.

I'm not buying anything new this fall. Cosmo's vet bills broke the bank. :-(

BUT, if I was shopping for clothes, I can tell you what I would NOT buy--definitely no skinny jeans, no ballet flats (I'm short enough already plus I think they're a little too tween-ish), no leggings, no gauchos with boots, no kimono sleeves, no jodhupers, no froo-froo lacy victorian blouses, and nothing green or orange.

Does that help at all? :+

You know, like the Diane von Furstenburg dresses? They've been enormously popular here for several years now. I'll see if I can find a link...

Banana Republic has some cute ones. http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/category.do?cid=5023

I got my latest one at Gap (they do different stuff in the UK Gaps), but I have 4 others, LOL! They are super comfy, easy to wear, look great w/ boots, heels, flats, over leggings, trousers, jeans - very versatile! :7

I really like Nine West boots - have 3 or 4 pair. I also like Clarks for comfy boots, Frye for my 'kick ass!' boots, and Kurt Geiger for fashion boots. I'm a boot slut.}(

Oh, Oh, I want to talk too. I don't have a clue about fashion, but I just got back from the mall where I bought a pair of cuffed, cropped trousers!!! Yes, I did!!!! I had to buy them, seeing as how they were a size smaller then I usually wear. So that's my fashion statement. Oh, I also bought a black hoodie and a red long sleeve liz claiborne sweater. And some earrings. I always buy earrings. So, that's what I know about fall fashions.
