Fabby Tummy

Hi guys, my first time here. I just turned 50 and have been fairly successful at keeping my weight under control with diet and exercise. I have several of Cathe's DVD's including the STS meso cycles - love them! I did bulk up a little with the meso cycles tho. Recently I put on about 10 lbs (eating habits got out of wack!) But my biggest complaint is that my stomach has become flabby. I've always had a nice flat stomach. I can't figure it out. I do tons of crunches and every ab workout I think Cathe has and still flab! I don't do a lot of cardio. I did just purchase the new kickboxing DVD and LOVE it!

Any suggestions as to diet or exercise to get rid of my flab?

Diet is a big part of abs but I've recently found some success shaping up my abs (specifically my obliques) by doing a lot of kickboxing with weighted gloves on as well as a lot of traditional oblique work. :)

ETA: I also do 20-30 mins of cardio almost every time I work out (6 days a week).

I'm 46 and also have a flabby tummy issue. This last week I decided to do core work every day and see if that helped. Believe it or not I am seeing a difference already. I do about 10 minutes every day. Sometimes a Cathe workout and sometimes an Ab Ripper type workout (p90X). I'm going to keep it up. BTW, I really don't enjoy working abs.

When I did Slim Series I noticed the same thing. It has daily ab work in it and even though it's only about 10 mins a day, it definitely made a difference IMHO.

I have a double whammy; flabby tummy and loose skin! Not a pretty sight when I sit down. LOL! But, it's a reminder of the 40 lb weight loss I've kept off for 10 years! :)

This is the first time I've had to deal with the same issue. At goal weight, total BF is liveable (21%), though, I'm still trying to get it below 20%. My skin is loose and my remaining excess BF is all around my middle! I despise doing abs, but it sounds like I'm going to have to increase from 2 days a week to at least 5 days a week!

Yeah, I know, only 2 days. I always have the intention of doing abs on the weekend and end up skipping them. Gotta get more disciplined! Did I mention I absolutely HATE doing abs???

Oh, well, sigh . . . to the grindstone I guess!

From my experience, abs are tricky. You may have great abs that are just hiding. For ab definition to really show, you have to have a lower %BF. A lot of it is definitely nutrition IMO.

I too agree. Ab work everyday, even as little as 6 minutes, helps keep my tummy in shape.

Since I had a C-section, I can never get rid of my flab. I did lose 20 lbs. 2 years ago, but the abs is still flabby. I heard someone mentioned that core max did them wonders. hhmm. Maybe I should try it. What do you think?
