Expectant mom

I am an expectant mom, just 3 months along. I was looking through the website and located the story on Cathe having her last child. Do you have a specific video series for post pregnancy workouts? Or suggestions of which series I should purchase. I have one DVD and really enjoy it. I would like to continue using her series workouts. It might be a lot easier to get into shape after the baby is born if I know what works best. I'm in good physical condition now, but I know that due to the pregnancy most of it will diminish quickly.
Thanks for you help

Hi Sarah! Congratulations! I actually do not have a post pregnancy series. Once your doctor gives you the approval to resume activity after delivery (usually 6 to 7 weeks, but go by what your doctor recommends)you just need to start back slowly. Start with lighter weights as well as lower intensity cardio and shorter workouts. Gradually work your way up to what you were doing prior to cutting back through your pregnancy. Take Care!

Sarah, we'd love too see you at FitMoms Forum. There's a pregnancy workout log that can give you great ideas & support from other Moms-to-be. Congrats & enjoy your pregnancy!

Congratulations. I found the XPRESS series an excellent way to regain my shape after having my children (only 20 months apart). Initially I recommend lots of walks with the stroller. You'll get weight lifting just from carrying around your baby. I found I gained a lot of muscle mass in my upper body from carrying the kids around. About 3 months after each child was born I added weights to my routine. The trickiest part is finding the time. Stroller walks are great because the baby can get a nap and you can get out of the house. I recommend a stroller with big wheels so that you can go on rough sidewalks and trails. The XPRESS series is great because you can ease into it. Initially just do warm up, cardio and cool down. As your strength returns add the weights. As your cardio improves you can do two of the cardio sections back to back. I would put the baby in her swing or exersaucer during my workout so she'd be happy while I worked out. The kids (now 2 and 4) are so used to me doing Cathe tapes now that they join me for stretches on the floor.

I also recommend lots of walks and swimming during your pregnancy. I was able to maintain a lot of my fitness by swimming 5 times a week during my pregnancy. Even after my c-section with my first born I was able to bounce back (after the mandatory 6 weeks of doing nothing).

Hope this helps and enjoy your new baby!

As melanie said check out the pregnancy/postpartum forum here at cathe.com. I have a 6 month old. During my pregnancy my favorite cathes were stepheat and wedding tape. I also used alot of firms and some cia tapes. postpartum at 6 weeks i resumed withall my cathe tapes. Congrats.

I definately like to walk. It's peaceful just getting out and breathing fresh air. Also a great quiet time just for me. That's one reason I exercise, it's my time away from the busy workday. I have a pool, just as soon as it warms up I plan on getting in it for sure. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into that series. Again, thank you for your advice!
