exercise routine ?

How often should I switch workouts. My main goal is to lose weight first and foremost and then maybe I can work on adding heavier dumbbells. Should I stick with just one DVD for a month and rotate to a new on the next month or should I switch it up weekly, or even daily? I usually try to do a total body workout 3 times a week and my elliptical 3 times a week. If anyone one is bored and has a lot of time on their hands and would like to put together a routine for me I will list the DVDs I have. Should I just focus on one for a while and then switch to another or constantly change things up? Thanks for any help!
Cathe DVDs I have are: Imax 2, Cardio & Weights, Kick Punch & Crunch, Legs & Glutes, Butts and Guts, Boot Camp, Muscle Endurance, High Step Circuit for beginners.
I also have Jari Love Get Ripped 1000 and Get Extremely Ripped. I also ordered Extremly Ripped 1000. The problem is I have so many great workouts that I get over whelmed and don't know if I should just concentrate on one or two for a while and then switch things up after I'm no longer seeing results or if I should always do something different. I really want Cathe's Shock Cardio as weight loss is my main focus, but I don't think that will be happening as I have no income for the time being. I am a good 30 pounds over weight, so like I said, right now I really need to focus on getting down the weight before I focus on sculpting even though I realize lean muscle mass is important as well. Sorry this got so long!

Hope this is helpful for you

Your body needs variety. If you stick to the same rotation, or even the same dvd for too long, your body adapts, and the exercise stops being as effective. You want , in the words of Cathe, to shock your body all the time, so your body doesn't know what's hit it :) I will gladly do you a rotation with those DVDs...

Mon: Muscle endurance
Tues:Kick Punch Crunch
Wed: Butts and Guts
Thurs:Imax 2
Friday: (optional rest day) walking/light cardio
Saturday: Boot camp
Sunday: rest (or, if you're enthusiastic (I don't have rest days) do a purely cardio workout, although I'd advise a short cardio premix)

Mon: Get ripped 1000
Tues: Blast mania Imax 2+ upper body from muscle endurance
Wed: cardio conditioning premix from kick punch and crunch + Legs and glutes standing premix
Thursday: Bootcamp cardio only + core
Friday: Interval 1-5 Imax 2 + upper body from bootcamp
Saturday: Butts and Guts
Sunday: rest

Mon:Legs and Glutes
Tues:Imax 2
Wed: Get extremely ripped
Thursday: Kick punch and crunch
Friday: (optional rest day)
Saturday: Cardio and Weights
Sunday: rest or pure cardio workout

Mon:Muscle endurance
Tues: Entire Imax 2
Wednesday: Butts and Gutts
Thursday: Bootcamp
Friday: Entire Kick punch and crunch
Saturday: Cardio and weights
Sunday: rest or Time saver step premix from cardio and weights

I have tried to give your muscles adequate rest time here. You appear to have ALOT of circuit workouts :) Which I personally like.. also, for weight loss, it is particularly effective. I don't like them as much for strength building though, but for weight loss, I think they help speed your whole system up. I have made you this rotation based on the ones I make for myself. If I were you, I'd invest in some more total body workouts and total cardio workouts, simply because I find they are more versatile. I hope you enjoy this rotation, and that I haven't included too much workout time. I am happy to modify if you don't usually workout for as long as I have written (some workouts will verge on 80 mins) Aslo, I haven't included core. If I were you, I would work my core at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes. I hope this helps :)

Wow! Thanks so much Zozo. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. I'll have to print this out! Glad to get your response and it seems like a great routine. After a couple months I'll have to post my results. Clean eating and this routine ought to get those 30 pounds off in 6 months or so!

A question for you; I also have Jari Love's Get Ripped 1000. How do her other Extremely Ripped compare to that one and Cathe's dvds? I think the Get Ripped 1000 is tough--on Cathe's level. What's your take?

I like Extremely Ripped, but my favorite Jari is still Ripped 1000. I'm hoping the new Extremely Ripped 1000 will be more like that one. I am sore, but I kind of found it hard to follow the people on the step as they were in the back and some of the chatter seemed silly to me. I was sore and did sweat buckets though so that makes it worth the price right there. For more thorough reviews check out collage.com.
