Ever met anyone famous?

Cathlete
And yes, Cathe counts as famous! Who have you met, be it movie star, sports star, political figure, etc? I'll go first (especially since it's a short list):

When I was a cashier I checked out the groceries of Kirby Puckett, Warren Moon, Sean Salsbury, and Jimmy Jam (all local celebs). I also made Warren Moon an ice cream cone and does anyone from MN remember Good Company? Well I waited on Sharon Anderson one day and I can say with all honesty, she was NOT good company.

I also waited on Loni Anderson and Tiny Tim while working at a grocery store.

I met Robert Wagner along time ago in California. Did a live Cathe class last October. That's it for me.

Joanne

I met Cathe and Brenda last summer! Took a class and had dinner. :)

Back in about '91 met the bassist from the band Slaughter (early 90's hair band) when they were opening for Ozzy Osbourne and my friend and I were staying in the same hotel as the band. I'm still counting that even though they are no longer famous really.

I helped Vicki Lawrence pick out a sweater at the Gap many years back.

I worked at a restaurant frequented by many SF 49ers. Met Gary Plummer, Ken Norton Jr., Johnnie Johnson, and Bubba Franks.

Tori Spelling and I were flipping through the sale rack at Nordstrom together.

I think that's it!

I was a waiter during the college days at BWI Airport and I waited on Steve Lawrence and Edie Gourmet. God they smoked endlessly!! LOL!! Also waited on alot of pro wrestlers.
Let's see.....
1. most of the Washington Capitals hockey team. Alot of them live around here.
2. Cal Ripken Jr.
3. Juan Marichal(former baseball player)
4. Enos Slaughter(former baseball player)
5. John Miller(ESPN baseball broadcaster)
6. Brooks Robinson(baseball Hall of Famer)
7. Scott McGregor( former baseball player)
8. Mike Stankovic (former player with Baltimore Blast indoor soccer team)
9. Jimmy Dean(the sausage guy - LOL!)
10. Jenna Jameson(yes, the porn actress)
11. Walter Cronkite, I think he has a house in Annapolis.
There must be more but I am not remembering them right now....

I used to work in a restaruant in the Fort Worth Stockyards as a waitress and waited on quite a few country singers, that was 15 years ago so some of you may not even know Charlie Daniels, Dottie West, The Gatlin Brothers, ect. When I lived in California I had a friend that worked for Lyle Waggoner at Star Waggons (used to be on Carol Burnett Show and Wonder Woman) we all went camping in the movie trailers once. He and his family were very down to earth and nice. When I was 13 I went roller skating and Jerry Lewis was doing a Telephon at the rink I skated at, my friend and I got to skate around the rink with him but I have to say I was left with the impression of him not liking children he was very short with us and grabbed our hads hard and acted rude (maybe he thought he was going to fall on his skates?) but as a kid I remember that ruining my image of the Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin movies after that, he just seems so great in the movies but he may have just been having a bad day.

Yeah, I've waited on Kevin Garnette while he was on a date at TGI Fridays once. I have met Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith and the lead singer from Korn, Jonathan. Oh and for those of you vikings fans I have also met Kyle Wong (sp?). He bought his girlfriend a bracelet from me when I was a jewelry sales person. He's not a Viking any longer we traded him before last season I believe.
Those are my brushes with fame. for those of you from Minnesota,I also remember Pat Miles would frequent that TGI FRidays too. I never met her, but I heard that I didn't want to either! Not a very nice person to wait on I guess.

Kathy

Scott and I met Charlton Heston and his wife a few years back. I've also met Frankie Avalon. He sings with Scott (my fiance) once a year at the play "Tony n' Tina's Wedding".

Scott is an actor and was an extra in "My Best Friend's Wedding" so met Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz and all the rest of the cast. Scott was also an extra (SWAT team guy) in the movie "Negotiator" and had lunch with Samuel L. Jackson! :) Oh! I also saw Mel Gibson filming a scene for the movie "Payback" with Lucy Liu in Chicago.

Here's us with the Hestons!! This is before I found Cathe workouts though! I've lost 15 lbs since then! Thanks Cathe!!!

Let's see...we've met Mario Andretti, John Tesh and Connie Selleca, Rona Barrett, Bryan Cranston, Jane (can't spell her last name) and the rest of the cast from Malcolm in the Middle. Hubby has met Gilad, Suzanne Somer's husband (can't think of his name), the guy who does those Navy Seals workouts and the guy who does the Bodywedge. We've seen many, many more stars out and about here in the Los Angeles area.

Also, DD was invited to the filming of one of Korn's music videos.

Just this year, Toby Keith at a "meet and greet" at his concert. (Does that count?)

And met one of the Doobie Brothers (forgot his name, but he had a mustache with gray hair) about 7 years ago at a bar inside Ceasars Palaces' casino.

Oh, and caught a glimpse of Goofey at Walt Disney World a while back.

Let's see... when I was a bartender and the Mangy Moose in Jackson Hole, WY, Harrison Ford came in and was very nice (dressed in army fatigues - stood out like a sore thumb, he has a place there), Don Johnson, BB King, Edgar Winter, Cory Stevens, and that is all that comes to mind at the moment.

I would trade all those in to take a live class with Cathe any day! :)

Mmmmm Let's see.
I waitress a long time ago and waited on:
Liz Smith
Julia Child
Al Pacino ( I wanted to cut his food for him)
My Hubby and I were having dinner in NY and Ralph Finnes was at the table next to us.
Two summers ago I met Joe Pantoliano (Soprano's)
If you are a cooking fan I met Michael Chiarello from Napa Style.
In Dec we were in South Beach at the Forge Restaurant and Hilary Clinton was there see gave us a smile.
We met Jack Walsh from GE. in Southport CT.
So, those are my brushes with famous people.

My sister (Rockstar4614), my cousin and I got a gig with the caterers for the *NSYNC roadies that set up their show in Dallas. Yes, we love *NSYNC and were hoping to meet the guys.

Our wish was granted and we hung out with Joey and Chris at The Four Seasons until the wee hours of the morning. The guys were really low key and totally down to Earth (not "celebrity" at all!)

The next day my sister got to meet them all but my cousin and I missed out. :-(

Lisa Welchel (Blair from Facts of Life) and Janine Turner used to frequent a restaurant where I waited tables.

Just local people really. I've met a few local newscasters because they were visiting patients at the hospital where I was working at the time. I've also taken care of a few local celebrities as patients.

I went to junior high school with Dennis Kucinich's younger sister, and met him and his brother once a long time ago. Oh, and I went to high school with and was good friends with Drew Carey, but do you think he emails me these days??? Heck no!! LOL!!

Carol
:)

British actor Jonathan Pryce, playwright Harold Pinter and Lady Antonia Fraser, after a performance of "The Caretaker" at the National Theatre in London in 1980 (Mr. Pryce actually invited me to join him the the rest of the cast in the actors' bar of The National! how cool is that?)

Maya Angelou, about a million years ago when she spoke at my college;

Walter Mondale here in Minneapolis in 1988

Oprah Winfrey and the late Ann Landers, when I appeared as a studio guest on an "Oprah" installment in spring 1996

Sugar Ray Leonard, who was having breakfast at a local Au Bon Pain

The late, sorely missed Paul Wellstone in 2000

>Connie Selleca is such a beautiful lady on screen is she as
>beautiful in person?
>Sherry

She is a very beautiful lady and very nice, too. She does show a little more age in person than on screen. Beautifully smooth porcelain skin, and those eyes!

1. MORIE AMSTERDAM (sp?) - I waited on him in Atlantic City.

2. DIANNE CARROLL (sp?) - Same

3. CHER - I ran into her twice in a couple of stores in Manhattan. She was wearing a curly wig and high heels and was shorter than me in flat shoes (I'm 5'9"). Sonny must've really been a shrimp!

4. SUSAN SARANDON - My at-the-time 19-month-old son played with her son, Miles, at a store in Memphis where she was filming "The Client."

4. WOODY ALLEN - While in my car, I saw him and a bunch of Asian kids cross the street in front of Central Park. He had a very sour expression. This was before his split-up with Mia Farrow!

5. GERALDO RIVERA - Spotted him at Newark Airport. A former professor of mine told me she once worked with him when he went by the name, "Jerry Rivers."

6. RAY DAVIES from The Kinks - I kissed him at a concert.

7. JOHNNY from Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes - I met him backstage at a concert.
