Ever have one of those days........

Thanks Kathyrn for your response and for getting back to the orignal post. The last thing I wanted to do is to turn this into one of those post that gets deleted:)
Its nice to know that it isn't just me who as one of those days, even when you start out feeling "on top of the world":) I find PH very challenging as well. The funny thing is,I never use to find ME that hard.BUt it wiped me today.:) Its nice to feel worked but then there are times when you do a workout and you end up thinking, am I getting weaker?
I haven't really been doing endurnace type workouts lately.I have been doing the Pyramid System ,PP and SS. I don't think PP and SS are that difficult.I guess I also forgot about all those low ends as well.
Thanks again,
Lori

Lori:

it's OK, you are fine. I am not offended, don't panic!!! I just emailed you. All is well, I'm not on your case, neither is Wayne either, truly he's not. He is sticking up for me because he and I have both come in for some flack around here recently and we sort of look out for eachother because I think we are on the same wavelength. He's a sweetie and he wouldn't hurt a fly. Flack like we have received recently, but not from you, sort of makes you sensitized, you know what I mean?

Lori, you are a genuine, honest, friendly person, who cares a lot about others, you are always seeking advice to help people you know, I know you don't offend people. Take care now,

Clare

Lori:

to add to what Kathryn has said. I think she's right on the money, we can't always know exactly what causes these days when it seems we have no energy to do workouts we know like the back of our hand. I know that for me the degree of energy or lack of energy follows my menstrual cycle. So, I plan for that and do easy stuff during any time from days 15 to 30 when I may feel extra pooped. Then again, I have had other times when I have yawned my whole way through the workout, still finished it, but fallen asleep with my head on the tabel right after dinner, but not, of course, with my head actually in the plate! Sometimes that is because I have underestimated the strain on my body of the accummulated gains in strength or endurance training I have been doing. Sometimes I think I can keep going like an energizer bunny, and then head on table sleep episodes remind me that it just ain't so and I'm closer to 40 than I'd like to be!

And as Kathryn said: any time I have been dedicating to exclusively strength work, it hurts like hell to go back to endurance, I feel useless and pathetically wimpish for the first few workouts. So maybe with ME, this was your experience. I only said what I first said because you sounded all "Lori is hurting and tired" and I wanted to give you permission to rest if you wanted it, because you know there are some hard cases who refuse to take rest periods !!!!

Anyway, I am off now to put children to bed so, see you!

Clare

Hey Lori

Apologies if I hurt your feelings. As Clare said, I’m a little over-sensitised at the moment. People can be so mean, but i don't want ot be one of them! Apologies again. BIG MWA!!! x

VEry bad joke susan...but I guess if you hadn't read the rest of the post you could have easily told me that:) I know people mean well.
Wayne-I know what you are talking about.I think I read the thread but I didn't contribute anything to it b/c I didn't want to get involved.
Take care,
Lori:)

I've decided to do MIS today instead of ME, just in case! LOL! I think Lori's original post was much more light-hearted than we realized at first. And what Clare said about the endurance workouts is absolutely true. Who can keep track of those endless reps and sets? I might feel like I am gonna die during Slow/Heavy but at least I know I am done when 8 reps are executed. I do love when, at the end of an endurance body part, I am squawking, "how many more reps?" and Cedie tells Cathe the count. It's as if she heard ME! Uncanny! :)

Even after doing ME on a regular basis since its release, I still cannot do those crazy bicep curls with the weight that Cathe uses!!! It got so that I would tense up just before that section with immense dread. I would even dread doing that workout on my rotation because of those 100 mph, fast bicep curls. I even have a hard time with that song during the biceps, due to my ineptability. In order to keep what sanity I have left, I decided to lower down and use dumbells. Now my brain is programed "yippe, we get to use dumbells" ;-)
S&H is very easy for me, even with heavier weights than Cathe is using. Perhaps it is the rest breaks and treating myself with those 'sips of water' in between sets?

Still, ME makes me tired just thinking about it. I'd much rather do C&W, the Pyramids even BootCamp. The Body Blast series doesn't create this ME syndrome in me. Yet, some days I can fly through it and others I think it will never end. Also I misunderestimate (new term I heard last year. LOL) Power Hour. I really need to do That one more often.
But after I get through ME, later on (if I did ME in the morning and after loading up on caffine; I know, bad thing, doing something else is just fine.
Lori, maybe its just the ME workout and not You being tired. LOL

Hi Lori -

I had a hard time with ME this morning too. I was shakin as if I hadn't been exercising in months. Very weird. I'm thinking it was because I haven't been doing high reps with my weight work.

What a tough workout. }(

That could be very true Wanda.Could have been just ME and not ME:) HA, I made a funny:7 I also hear ya on the bicep curls. She was fly'in through those while I had to stop and stare.I just felt that I was going way to fast. So,I slowed it down to a two count. But I am not sore today though.I always determine how hard a workout was by the next day.It all depends on if I can walk or not:)

Bobbi-I also know what you are saying about S&H.It helps to know that youonly have X number of reps left. The endurance type workouts feel like they are never going to end! I hated static lunges (I still do but not as much) S&H was the only way I got use to doing them.I knew I only had 12 to do so that wasn't a big deal. Now instead of skipping them on other workouts I usually jump right in.But not happily.
Thanks girls..

Lori - this was exactly me on Saturday. I stopped ME at least 5 times just to take a minute or two rest. I NEVER do that. I felt myself shaking more than usual. I exercise 4-6 times a week depending on whats going on with the family, work, etc.. I kept thinking hey I'm 38 BUT wait Cathe is older than me and going full force. I was wondering if this happens to her or others also. I took Sunday off just to be sure. We'll see how I feel this evening doing IMAX2.

Your post made me feel not quite so wimpish:p

I have found since starting to journal my food intake in an effort to get more quality and quantity protein I have better strength training days, barring other side issues, when I've kept my protein intake at around 30%. This could be an illusion, but more protein seems to have made me sharper in a number of ways or wheys.

I had the exact same question for myself until I started tracking my period along with my workouts, in the same journal and voila! Every month, exactly one week, to the day, I have a really tough workout day. On some occassions it's been a run that was really tough, others it's been a weight training day where I just couldn't seem to lift my usual.

Plus, Lori, I read your posts about the sleepover and, well, could it be post-traumatic stress disorder??!!

Christine

P.S. I'm in Toronto and there's no way I'm running outside yet...it was -10 this morning!!! what province are you in? Are you running outdoors?
