evening snackers

I was wondering if there are many of us who usually have a snack at night and do you think that it might be detrimental to losing weight, even if it is nutritious? I almost always have a fruit smoothie around 8/9pm.

For me it totally depends on when I worked out. Most nights I don't do my workout until 7pm, so I do have a snack later. If I actually get a morning workout in (which I can't remember the last time I worked out in the morning!) I usually don't have that urge to snack.
I personally think that if you look at your total calories for the day, and you still have some room for an evening snack, I think it is ok. If you have already hit your limit and you are having a bowl of icecream (mmmmmmm...that sounds really good right now!) I think then it can be detremental.

If I have a snack before bed, it's usually low fat cottage cheese (I add hot sauce) and a few nuts. That satisfies me through the night.

I also have a snack every night between 8 and 9. If I don't I will be ravenous when I go to bed and it also helps me get through my workout at 4:45am. I usually have lowfat cottage cheese, peanutbutter or a protein shake.

It's all about calories in/calories out. As long as you are creating a calorie deficit it doesn't matter what TIME you eat or don't eat. Eat when your hungry. Your body needs the fuel. :)
